Kenzo sat down with both Tokido and Mago to get their thoughts on the changes coming shortly to Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. The Version 2012 patch is hoped to breath new life into the game in terms of character balance, and with Street Fighter X Tekken going a very “unique” route, it may be what SF4 needs to stay on top of the tournament scene for a while longer.

Tokido says Sakura top tier?! Wow.

“The Version 2012 patch is hoped to breath(e) new life into the game in terms of character balance… it may be what SF4 needs to stay on top of the tournament scene for a while longer.”

Will the changes really be that drastic? SF4′s been on the shelf for a while; people are still playing it, but it’s been three years. With the glut of fighting games coming, it’s not impossible that players will be migrating to other games. The stalwarts will stick to SF4 and the new guys will switch to SFxTK. Kids short attention-spans, time limits on novelty, that kind of thing, bla bla bla bla…

These videos are kind of quiet, but I appreciate them. Just difficult to listen to when there are people at my window using the leaf blower.

If I was reading a transcript of Tokido’s interview, it’d be meaningless. You wouldn’t be able to tell how hard he is thinking about his answers. Except when Kenzo says he’s the best Akuma player and he immediately says, “Yes, yes.”

After how Uryo blew people up at Season’s Beatings, folks will believe that. Though Uryo did get a lucky break against Tokido when his ex tatsu didn’t throw Sakura across the screen.

yeah he already has one but he should mosdef get a flat top with it. maybe that’s what he meant.

if they do that they’d might as well make it 7frame start up so he has some of his old combos back. sf4 gets dryer with every release to me. way too many characters and only a handful of them are interesting to use, imo. at least gouken has got some new tech that should make me interested long enough to play AE2012.

I had read that Sakura was considered high (maybe not top, but very high) tier before SB, but I think she’s one of those cases where Japan shows more interest.

My problem with AE was that it made too many characters average or below average, whereas Super seemed to have a better distribution of fun playability…I don’t know about it getting drier each time, I mean Vanilla has some strong characters, and a Ryu that feels like a damn Ryu, but it has some other, terrible characters that later became more viable.
