With 2012 rapidly approaching, we thought it was time to let you in for the date and location for Evo’s World Finals for next year. We are proud to announce that the event everyone has been raving about is back in action! The Evolution 2012 Main Event will be held on July 6-8, 2012 at the fabulous Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Evolution Championship Series represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. Evo events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion.

Caesars Palace is one of the world’s best known resort casinos, celebrating the glory that was the Greece, and the grandeur that was Rome, in an 85-acre destination location that sets the standard for excitement and luxury.         Or…just stay somewhere else? Imperial Palace is mad cheap and right across the street, Harrah’s is cheaper than Caesar’s and also right across the street. I stayed at IP this Summer for Evo and because I had some comp rooms (4 nights comped because I spent $100 on tables on my 21st birthday in May, guess all it takes is being enrolled in their rewards program (Harrah’s – they have like, 9 or 10 hotels just look it up) will get you discounts/comps), I paid $137 for 6 nights. I don’t know where you’re flying from but look at other airlines besides the major ones, I flew for $390 round-trip from Chicago on Spirit.
        
        You don’t HAVE to stay at the hotel it’s taking place at, especially cause Caesar’s is right in the middle of the strip, every other hotel is 5-15 minutes walking away from it.

  seriously, that 2 frame difference won’t make THAT much of a difference and Xbox has input lag as well, its just Xbox has 2 frame less then PS3, u can get used to it if u practice for a couple of hours between consoles. Also, Capcom is the main sponsor for the event, so they can have a pretty big say on which console to use, if they want PS3, then so be it. Also what do u mean by using Xbox making the tourny legit? Using one console over another makes a tourny legit…really?

    It’s just that as the premier world tournament for fighting games, I believe it should run on the superior setup of the 2 major consoles. I think it’s a big deal cause any amount delay changes the game. At the top level of competition, it is not an insignificant difference, and it’s this that I am hoping will be recognized for the 2012 tournament. It is this type of seriousness about the game that is needed for the American scene.

I mean when you have Momochi, Uryo, and Poongko hitting their shit on PS3 make’s you have think that complaining doesn’t do much so just step it up.         They hit plenty more combos than they dropped if anything the most costly drops happened to be every time Justin missed an ultra which I would argue was mostly due to not pressing all three buttons. And guess what, what I said applies to them as well sure it’s a pain not to have one standard but that’s where it’s at right now. Get games in on the console the tourney is using ahead of time even it’s just to get used to the differences.

I’m all for a move to 360 myself, especially since there are lag-free PS2->360 adapters for PS2 pad players, but I understand why EVO continues to use PS3s ever since they bought a ton of them for Tekken 5DR.

    I won’t say for sure, since I’m nowhere near the ledger for Evo, but I’d bet they pull in enough money to replace their PS3s for 360s by now. But I don’t blame them for not wanting to eat away at what they have in surplus (if they do, like I said, I can only speculate). Better to have that money either for emergencies regarding other equipment or expenses based on the tournament than to blow it on systems when they already have enough to run the tournament.

They gave you a break because BBCS hadn’t released yet and CT was garbage so they slotted in MB at the last minute and there was hardly anyone in the audience. Only fans of MB prior to EVO had positive things to say (of which were the obvious minority).

    Capcom throws a lot of support behind EVO, especially this most recent one. Maybe it’s monetary (more Capcom games, more players playing Capcom games), maybe it’s not (ample demo stations for SFxTK & SF3OE compared to TTT2). Maybe it’s the fact that most of the games in the tournament were Capcom games, or that Capcom had the most fighting games currently released, or that the audience wants to see Capcom games more than games by other groups (Namco, ASW, etc.) EVO is primarily Street Fighter-centric, and therefore the focus is on Capcom and their games.
    
    So in a way, Capcom does run EVO.

      i thought TTT2 had less space because they actually brought in arcade setups. The CAPCOM games had more setups because they ran off consoles. EVO is mainley Capcom because the guys who run it mostly play Capcom, and those are the games that pull larger crowds (in person and on stream).

Kinda bad of a time for this event. Does everyone know how impossible its going to be to find a room? 10k people showed up this yr on a regular Vegas weekend…This coming 2012, July 4th is gonna be on a Wednesday, so there’s gonna be people there for basically a week partying. To hold this the same week as that is kinda nutty. I suggest driving there and getting there on the 5th and bringing at least $2000 in pocket money. You’re gonna need it. Shits gonna be crazy.

Who in the fuck thought is would be a good idea to have in during 4th of July weekend. I def wont be there, plane tickets are $800.00. You need to take in consideration that everyone does not stay in Vegas, an event like this should not be on a holiday weekend!
