You have only hours left to register for Evo 2011.  That said, below you’ll find everything you need to know about EVO 2011!  Here’s the overall FAQ on the rules of the event, but here’s all the fun (and totally FREE!) stuff going on:

  • Play pre-release new fighters like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Soul Calibur V, Street Fighter X Tekken, and maybe more surprises?
  • Giant “Bring Your Own Console” area with freeplay on almost every fighter imaginable.  You’ll find tons of fun side-tournaments as well as casual play on everything from the core tournament titles to games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, or even games like Magical Drop III!
  • Pre-party @ Insert Coin!  What better way to begin your assault on the biggest tournament in the world than with a late night out?  Come party with staff, players, and special guests at Insert Coin, Las Vegas’ amazing bar-cade founded by long-time community member Chris LaPorte.  Free entry to all attendees, but like any club, there is a max capacity, so get there early to be sure you can get in!   Thursday, July 28th, 10pm-4am!

  • Panels! Top developers, community members, and players come together for a great assortment of panels.

Friday, July 29th

Saturday, July 30th

In addition to a giant list of star players, you can meet the people that made your favorite games, including developers from Street Fighter, Tekken, Marvel Vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls, King of Fighters, and Soul Calibur.

  • Marvel Vs Capcom 3: East Coast vs. West Coast 5-on-5 (plus live Draft!).  NerdJosh and EG Justin Wong will choose the players that best represent each coast in the eternal East Vs West coast rivalry.  They will meet on the EVO main stage to see who can back up another year’s worth of trash talk!
  • Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Online Edition 5-man Round-Robin Kumite!  On the eve of SF3:OE’s return, 5 representatives from around the world will be chosen to show the world the greatness of Third Strike.
  • World-premiere Video Exclusives.  A few have been announced (like Desk’s new EVO combo video, and the premier of the “Balrog: Behind the Glory” short film), but EVO 2011 has more unannounced video surprises in store!

Triple Stream!  2011 will feature an amazing new triple-stream to bring you as many of your favorite matches as possible, stretching the 72 hours of EVO into many more hours of amazing EVO stream.  Stream #1 will run Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Marvel vs Capcom 3, Stream #2 will feature Mortal Kombat, Tekken 6, and BlazBlue, while Stream #3 will follow the action to late-night grudge matches where top players run it back in a series of high-profile exhibitions.

That’s all FREE!

In addition to all of that, there’s also a little thing we call the 2011 EVO World Finals, aka THE BIGGEST FIGHTING GAME TOURNAMENT IN THE HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH.

Thousands of competitors from an unbelievable 44 different countries will come to Las Vegas as they attempt to climb the perilous path to EVO glory.  They will play across 5 different tournament titles, culminating in only 8 finalists for each game. Finalists appear on Sunday to decide an ultimate champion.
