You have only hours left to register for Evo 2011.  That said, below you’ll find everything you need to know about EVO 2011!  Here’s the overall FAQ on the rules of the event, but here’s all the fun (and totally FREE!) stuff going on:

  • Play pre-release new fighters like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Soul Calibur V, Street Fighter X Tekken, and maybe more surprises?
  • Giant “Bring Your Own Console” area with freeplay on almost every fighter imaginable.  You’ll find tons of fun side-tournaments as well as casual play on everything from the core tournament titles to games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, or even games like Magical Drop III!
  • Pre-party @ Insert Coin!  What better way to begin your assault on the biggest tournament in the world than with a late night out?  Come party with staff, players, and special guests at Insert Coin, Las Vegas’ amazing bar-cade founded by long-time community member Chris LaPorte.  Free entry to all attendees, but like any club, there is a max capacity, so get there early to be sure you can get in!   Thursday, July 28th, 10pm-4am!

  • Panels! Top developers, community members, and players come together for a great assortment of panels.

Friday, July 29th

Saturday, July 30th

In addition to a giant list of star players, you can meet the people that made your favorite games, including developers from Street Fighter, Tekken, Marvel Vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls, King of Fighters, and Soul Calibur.

  • Marvel Vs Capcom 3: East Coast vs. West Coast 5-on-5 (plus live Draft!).  NerdJosh and EG Justin Wong will choose the players that best represent each coast in the eternal East Vs West coast rivalry.  They will meet on the EVO main stage to see who can back up another year’s worth of trash talk!
  • Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Online Edition 5-man Round-Robin Kumite!  On the eve of SF3:OE’s return, 5 representatives from around the world will be chosen to show the world the greatness of Third Strike.
  • World-premiere Video Exclusives.  A few have been announced (like Desk’s new EVO combo video, and the premier of the “Balrog: Behind the Glory” short film), but EVO 2011 has more unannounced video surprises in store!

Triple Stream!  2011 will feature an amazing new triple-stream to bring you as many of your favorite matches as possible, stretching the 72 hours of EVO into many more hours of amazing EVO stream.  Stream #1 will run Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Marvel vs Capcom 3, Stream #2 will feature Mortal Kombat, Tekken 6, and BlazBlue, while Stream #3 will follow the action to late-night grudge matches where top players run it back in a series of high-profile exhibitions.

That’s all FREE!

In addition to all of that, there’s also a little thing we call the 2011 EVO World Finals, aka THE BIGGEST FIGHTING GAME TOURNAMENT IN THE HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH.

Thousands of competitors from an unbelievable 44 different countries will come to Las Vegas as they attempt to climb the perilous path to EVO glory.  They will play across 5 different tournament titles, culminating in only 8 finalists for each game. Finalists appear on Sunday to decide an ultimate champion.

King of Fighters, yea! Pretty excited for Evo this year. 😀

  • Nuts

Evo is more important to me than X-mas.

    • Necrophile

  • Kankuri

For the love of God, please stream some of the casual play. If I saw TMNT: Tournament Fighters being streamed, I would probably cry tears of epicness.

    • Nybb

This. Hopefully this year’s dual-stream format will be a success so that we can have a third stream next year for non-headlining games, like TF and ST.

  • Xyshin

    Isn’t Perfect Legend DMG now?

  • newegg

nice to see that Poongko and gamerbee can make it!

  • Nybb

Marn just tweeted that he can’t make it to EVO…

  • davidkong07

  • Akka

I’m really excited! I can’t wait to go. I know I’ll get eaten up free, but I’ll still enjoy myself.

  • KillaFox

No YIPES? I need god like commentary!!!

    • Zeidust

I like Seth, I like Gootecks. I like it when someone can keep their cool. I have seen Yipes on Wednesday night fights doing a pretty good job (this is hard for me to say since I can’t stand his random one liners). Yet during some of the past EVO’s..I don’t remember this particular commentators name..but he practically blew up my computer speekers for the most mundane turnovers. He treated it like it was some Daigo Hypish Full Parry for everything…. Keep the cool..let it out in the end.

  • MaikkyWin

I need to get 3 boxes of tissue for each day.

  • Sakurai

POONGKO THE MACHINE! A FACTORY OF AWESOME. I can’t wait to see him in action!

  • roq

Every time Justin Wong calls himself West Coast I vomit in my mouth a little bit.

    • Digital Masta

I agree. Not sure what your reasoning for it is but mine is simply because he takes a shit on his hometown, where he established himself every single time and honestly I’m from NYC, why the hell would anyone claim the west coast in place of NYC? Shit is crazy.

  • Ellipsen

    Who gonna beat Daigo?

    • b3nz0r

I want to see Poongko beat Daigo.

  • Stuart Hayden

I probably wont attend any of the panels. Cause I don’t really give a fuck. I’m there to socialize and meet people. Don’t really care about fighters anymore.

    • mc-fine

      Cool story bro.

    • Bman

      Cool story bro.

  • Vokkan

Dammit, EVO is held during my birthday. I guess the only present I want is to be left alone to watch the stream in peace.

  • Doromac

change emp perfect legend to dmg

  • janoDX

  • zebub blast

Can’t wait to see some BBCS matches. Who’s playing?

    • Zeidust

Me too…I’m happy to see this as well. BB has been so under the radar as of late. I don’t even know where to begin. It just doesn’t get the attention anymore and its a shame. I don’t get it. If supposedly GG>BB yet MvC2>MvC3 then I sure don’t see nearly as many droppers on Capcoms side. In fact..I can say that BB is harder than MvC3..yet so many people just slurp up whatever Capcom pours on the floor..

I’m not hating..I’m just saying I like em all..and I’m glad it is finally at EVO since BB got betrayed last year

  • Zero Shift

Ugh, I wanna be there soooo bad, but held back due to lack of money and busy with school 🙁 Would love to participate in some of those panels and play casuals against players from all over the world… Gotta start planing for EVO 2012!

  • Kayinleo

A prayer was answered when I saw Poongko’s name pop u… he deserves it. Watch out Daigo the Beast Umehara there’s a new beast prowling around!

  • skipperxyz

nin and anakin better be there.

  • McNasty

michael angelo, krayzie bone, aris, online tony, trophy club, morty seinfeld, detroitballin, ATL redd, TTT Kfrog, REO, and many more for MK…

    • King Rizz

Dude, you should know the mods don’t give a shit about non-Capcom games here.

  • HJayZ91

Will the panels be streamed? I am really inerested in seeing all the panels

  • Joe Yabuki

    Marn is not going

  • clintxcity

Really hope Marn ends up working out whatever it is that’s keeping him from going at this point, always like watching him play/troll the stream. Either way with all the panels, games, and three streams this is shaping up to be one of the best Evo’s ever!

  • Thirtyfour

    god damn
    why blazblu
    nobody likes that game

  • NAP

Kayo Police is going to Evo? That should be interesting.

  • Tiger_Claw

Anyone know how much are the prizes for each tournament? i am really curious of this

  • truendymion

    Marn you fucking idiot!

  • Majinhurricane

anyone doing a puzzle fighter side tourney?

  • King9999

So hype for Evo 2011. I planned on going this year, but there’s no way I could’ve went when I have work, school, and a lack of money. I swear I will attend at least one before I die!

  • El_Maiz

Wonder if there’ll be any Smash.

    • Zmoney2006

    • wesleypipes

no this is a fighting game tournament

  • Mrsbonbon

Im making the 8 hour drive there with my gang of violent minorities. Got my drugs and all the controllers I would ever need for the byoc. Screw Las Vegs Im there for evo this is literally a dream come true for me.

  • llSilk-Cutll

Just registered after years of following the site, great site keep it up guys.

Can’t wait for EVO – Really hoping from a personal point of view the Valle & Air can do Ryu proud (my main being UK PS3 Ryu). But I’ll probably go for Daigo, Tokido, Poongko & Wolfkrone in the semi’s (would love a Daigo vs Poongko final which would be epic).

  • Romuska

I think the panels will be a lot of fun provided we here more than the usual “we’re not allowed to talk about that yet.”

  • karapalm

PLEASE tell me you’re showing bang the machine this year. it’s the first year I’ve been able to go and I’ve wanted to go since 2004 and ever since the first bang the machine trailer, I’ve wanted to see it…!!!!

  • DarthPaul1982

Firstly; all this EVO stuff sound fantastic (and this post was well constructed). Very impressive indeed.

My main point for posting here though, is to say…

Please dont give money to Poongko to go to Evo or Air to go to Japan or anything else like this. There are real charities that need money! So Poongko doesnt go to Evo … big deal. Its really not gonna change the show at all. Its pretty damn scummy for someone to even ask for money to go to a damn gaming tournament when people are starving and dying etc. Please be thoughful with charitable donations!
