SSF4AE – PC Patch Available Now (But not on Steam)

Capcom let us know today that, so long as you are not using the Steam version of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, a patch that fixes a lot of known issues is available today. The Steam version of the patch is processing as we speak, however, and should be available pretty soon.

    Hooray ^___^

  • Windsagio

I hope the steam system goes fast, apparently that’s the version that has the worst problem.

    • philanthropy

also the version the majority of people have

      • Necrophile

Yeah… screw the majority. Thanks a lot Capcom.

  • ahdonye

Ha! Way to go Steam with my first purchase from you ever ;) Steam and Capcom better buy me a puppy to make up for this. (Just kidding, I hate dogs. I main Ammy in MvC3 but ca’t help but laugh when she takes a Shin Shoryuken because i hate dogs)

    • Zenme

If the patch had a bug that corrupted your system you’ll be happy you waited a couple days so that they could test it. XD

      • ahdonye

I would rather that someone @ Capcom would have said, “Hey, everyone grab your laptops and let’s install this game on every ones system to make sure the game works before we sell it to people”
I understand that mistakes are made, but the lack of ass kissing on Capcoms part is disturbing

  • C0dysB1ng0

dang I have steam guess waiting a few more days wont be too bad .

  • White Ren

    the real question is

will they be able to fix the whole series with this patch

Yeah, thanks CRAPcom for fixing the version the minority are using. Most got this from Steam and you just continue to make your customers angry by delaying the fix more and more to us. Not really liking the whole being stuck in an endless loop thing for over a week now. Epic fail of a release yet again. (Yes I know there are user made workarounds to get past this, but I shouldn’t have to do anything like that for a game I paid for.)

So I guess us Steam users won’t be able to play online against other players until we get patched too – as we will now have different versions…

Also, sign-in from the main page of this site STILL doesn’t work.

  • Sh33p

I’ve been playing against people online fine with the steam version. Stop whining kids, the slowdown is due to the patch going through the steam system. Stupid bloody children.

#1. Being unhappy with a company that failed to deliver a promised product and voicing that displeasure is not stupid or childish. It is the most direct way to get a company to remedy the problem in the most prompt manor. As a businessman (I own DJ, Photography, and real estate businesses) I can tell you that it is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. A customer who just sits quietly and accepts what happens to them gets the least amount of attention. This isn’t on purpose, running a company is very stressful and hard thing to do.
#2. By voicing what has happen as a consumer, you stop other people from buying a bad product before it is fixed. This helps the consumer avoid a situation where they pay for something they cannot use; a very shitty position to be put in. This also helps to choke off cash flow. As cash flow slows down the forces the company to fix the problem sooner than later.
#3. It is bad form to be an internet bully and call people childish and stupid from the safety of your computer. Don’t call anyone a name over the internet that you are not prepared to call them in person. I doubt, since my arms are most likely larger than your torso, that you would call me childish or stupid to my face. Instead of typing insults towards people who are in a situation that you cannot relate, please instead type thank you emails to the many fine sponsors of shoryuken.com. If you still have some pent up energy after that, I guess you could click on xhamster and rub one out ;)

well you bought shit so you get the kind of treatment associated with it

    @ahdonye

“Oh really not sir? You think I wouldn’t call you… Um… I.. You know what? You’re right”

(*thoughts going through guys head right now*) lol

I live in Canada, in a city with over 1.5 million people, and Bestbuy, Futureshop, EB Games, Gamestop do not carry AE PC.

So my only choice to play ae LEGALLY was to buy online, which I did. I picked the most popular version, Steam.

When I loaded the game for the first time I had a WTF moment when my gamepad didn’t work. The same gamepad that worked FLAWLESSLY with SF4 Vanilla for PC, which I also bought on release 2 years ago.

You want to treat the average PC gamer as a pirate? Fine, I have thick skin. But what’s your excuse for breaking something that worked flawlessly in the first place? And not testing before release day?

OOOOH I get it, because you paid most of your engineers to work on a NEW and IMPROVED DRM scheme that locks characters in offline mode, just to pay those same engineers AGAIN to create more code to REVERSE what you started.

A lot of wasted money, but that’s cool cuz worrying about the pirates is obviously more important than giving your LEGIT customers the basic controller compatibility they already had in SF4 vanilla.

LOL who needs gamepads when you have can have awesome DRM and 2 people SHARING a keyboard.

Capcom was glad to sell Steam copies, where they get a 70% cut of the sales, compared with 30% if they sold a physical version at Wal-Mart. So because Steam players bought the most AE copies and are the most profitable group of customers overall, THEY DESERVE TO GET THE PATCH LAST (NO ETA EVEN LOL)

Where did you get those statistics

      • Necrophile

        forbes.com

“Steam’s appeal to publishers is in giving them the opportunity to sell directly, cutting out the profits extracted by distributors. Publishers earn a gross margin of around 70% on Steam, compared with 30% via retail stores. They have a lot more flexibility selling through Steam than they do through stores or even a site like Amazon. Steam gives publishers live stats on how customers are reacting to marketing messages or price changes.”

How to find the file(s) that was patched?

  • PandaVega

Steam patches are often delayed. It’s not a problem with Capcom, it’s a problem with Valve. Capcom released the patch and Steam users need to wait for Steam to deploy that patch. Not Capcom’s fault. I guess some people are just determined to be mad at Capcom?

    • BeardKing

That’s weird since the update is coming from GFWL…?
