MvC3 – Uncounterable Team Aerial Combos with Zero, Shuma, and Hsien Ko

Zero and Shuma players should definitely take note of the following information. While the technique for Zero dates back a bit, this video by Eviltoaster shows the technology in action. Zero, while using his clone super, can pull off an uncounterable Team Aerial Tag. Shuma can do the same using Mystic Stare. Hsien Ko has some options too!

  • xS A M U R A Ix

Hmm, seems like the same issue that was with the snapback glitch with Zero. I love it!

  • GirugaMarc

    Hsienko? Options? What?

    nah I kid.

It sucks that neat stuff like this is hardly relevant in this retarded ass game though.

    • Mikeomak

I’m pretty sure the street fighter player Nemo (who tokido said was better then him) uses Shuma and does this exact thing with shuma.

  • Cryoh

I’d say that this pushes Hsien-Ko above assist-tier, but I’d be lying.

  • Zmoney2006

I don’t play any of those character (yet…) but if I see an outcry for this to be patched I think I am going to flip my sh*t. It takes 1 bar of hyper to perform for one character, you only get one free THC with a specific shuma combo, and Hsien Ko only gets a mixup and no GUARANTEED damage. And all together… ridiculous.

Great find though and I do enjoy little nuances of the game such as this being flushed out as time progresses.

  • Jufo

More bullshit? Why do I even play this game?

    • BigMovement

You seem to think this actually changes anything.

      • Unable to Connect

scrubs just like to cry. It’s not like TAC are 100% blockable anyway. No idea why he’s crying.

        • Unable to Connect

for the record, because someone will say it, by saying not 100% blockable I am referring to the guessing game.

    • TooItchy

rofl, did you even watch the video? This is not a big deal, and I guarantee you will never have the done to you. So please, don’t cry.

      • Jufo

I did watch the video and I wasn’t making a big deal out of it or crying. I don’t know why this many people overreact to a ‘scrub crying’. I just hate that I’m essentially playing a beta, that’s all.

        • Kikuichimonji

You never played Marvel 2 did you?

Half the fun is that it’s a glitchy piece of shit.

        • Grimbear13

How do you know that it’s a glitch and not a developmental choice. Obviously since the mechanic is there that a TAC can be stopped by damage that was meant to be. And how do you know it’s not supposed to be an option that gives these characters an edge? Not that Zero needs much help but the other two don’t get much face time in the tournament scene.

  • Rex0r

I know morrigan has a corner combo where even if you break she dodge’s the explosion and hits you as you fall down with your arms up.

    • JJJ

      lol.. rexrawr

  • Kalyx triaD

‘Cause in a game where a lot of free crap is given, we need yet another exploit. We don’t play games, we break them. Because somebody, some years ago, said it was interesting and “fun”.

    • DietDrKelp

I didnt know we wasnt having fun, Im sorry for having fun. Ill go back to playing wolverine akuma and phoenix

    • OrehRatiug

In a game where these characters (maybe not Zero arguably) need all the help they can get to compete people still complain when new tools are found for them.

  • booda

I love Marvel. We’ve only scratched the tip of the iceberg with this game. Anybody who thinks the tiers and metagame have been decided already is jumping to conclusions way too fast.

  • Warpticon

This is something. I wonder how many other characters can take advantage of this. I’d wager at least a couple. In any case, this just makes Zero even stronger, since he can burn a meter on clone super and then recover it right back with a free exchange Probably helps shuma the most, since his requires no meter.

  • BarSoap

Holy moly look at the meter made 0_0

Imagine using this tactic in a Phoenix Team.

  • boogityboy

I think everyone who whines about things in this game should go back and take a look at what can be done in marvel super heroes, xmen vs street fighter, and marvel vs capcom 1/2 and then stfu about patches.
Spoiled rotten Xbox live kiddies is what the majority of the fighting community has become.

    • EyePawd

So, what’s your XBL log-in then, boogity?

    • TooItchy

      agreed.

    • Vastago

Wow so because other games had bullshit in it, we have to endure that same retarded stuff…. OH god!!! We have to be REAL MEN… And never ever whine about stuff that is clearly broken… Unfair or even close to make zero players godlike without effort….

      • KryptoniteBoots

hahahaha, how does something that removes zero from play make him “godlike without effort.” Because you can get free shadows for a bit and lose the ability to DHC glitch?

And it’s not really about being REAL MEN, the fact remains that the VS serious lends itself to crazy shit buy design. If they “fix” everything, it’ll still be “broken” because their supposed to be more open and creatively free. To his point though, MvC3 is hardly broken compared to other games, and bitching just gets you a random sent health nerf (lawl) and the removal of cap’s infinite. They should wait, not like anyone is really going to use this.

      • boogityboy

Im on ps3 :P and an old skool arcade player, where we all played the games and enjoyed them and didnt spend more time on forums whining about unbalance issues and broken things than playing the actual games themselves.

        • Zmoney2006

Ok While I am always an advocate for letting games ride out until tactics and strategies can be formulated and counter strategies created, if you want to make a point, saying that “back in the day we didn’t… anything” Your argument immediately becomes invalid and irrelevant. If you want to back up your argument on why we should leave games alone with evidence as to how it establishes a metagame and so on and so forth (which it absolutely does) then fine but ppl please stop using the excuse of “back in the day we didn’t have patches” or “back in the day games were accepted as they were… ” Just because things were done incorrectly back in the day and there was no way or the effort was not put in to modify or change certain aspects of gameplay for previous iterations of games DOES NOT mean that things were not calling out for a change. Just because things were just accepted back then does NOT mean people have to do it today if developers are willing to make alterations and so on to extend the longevity of their game.

Now granted, I don’t believe in early patches and I believe that unless a character has an almost absolute guarantee for victory in almost any scenario or a 100% death infinite (sorry but I just don”t agree with infinites), a change or patch should not be made for at least one full year since the game came out (6 months at the shortest). We need time for things to be flushed out of the game before we start tinkering around with the insides.

          • Nitro263

Zmoney, I agree entirely. On point.

  • King Rizz

Outside of Zero most of this is irrelevant to the competitive crowd. Sad, all the amazing things in this game yet its all deemed bullshit by how broken the meta game is.

  • EyePawd

I believe the point the majority are trying to articulate is that higher level gameplay and (more importantly) competitive play shouldn’t be based around whom can take advantage of un-patched glitches and system errors in the game. It’s the equivilant of if aluminum bats were legal in professional baseball: Sure, anyone could use them, but is it fair and is it sporting?

But, alas, MvC is popular because of these glitches and that will never change without a severe patching.

    I miss Capcom vs Tatsunoko.

    • ironboy89

Do you want to list the amount infintes, and glitches in TVC that weren’t patched.

GTFO, every game has exploitable bullshit.

  • TooItchy

This is not a big deal at all. First off, Zero cannot build meter during Sougenmu, so the meter you didn’t get to build while comboing, is retrieved from the uncounterable TAC, and Shuma has to be very specific to do this correctly, in either case, this is not a glitch IMO, this is probably a game mechanic that exists for a reason, people are just finding ways to take advantage.

  • guitalex2007

So… no one noticed that Zero calls Shuma in as Amaterasu?

Mayeb that’s old news, but it’s news to me.

  • ssj2jeff

    incoming phoenix teams with zero

    • Phillpro1

LOL ssj2jeff. People are going to be stealing half my team. But this is a good find for me. However though once the shadow clone is active zero gains no meter when attacking.

    • Unable to Connect

spend one meter to gain one meter. I don’t see the benefit outside of having zero having sougenmu.

  • Blacksonic21

The Hsien-ko one is completely useless. No competent player is going to attack Hsien-ko while she’s armored to begin with. Instead they will wait out the pitiful five seconds Hsien-ko can stay armored. Damn you capcom if you do anything with this game, make Hsien-ko actually viable. Her current state makes me sad.

    • furix

They need to speed her up so she feels like she does in Vampire Savior.

    • NyuBomber

Her c.H should also OTG. She flipping crawls her claws along and into the ground. If Tron’s c.H can OTG, HK’s should, too.

  • k0rr1

wow look at everyone bitch haha, This generation makes me laugh.

  • mandersson

Doesn’t Chun Li have an infinite if she comes in after an aerial tag, cause if so Shuma/Chun/Someone could be pretty good. Shuma does his combo into aerial tag and then chun does that infinite for a ton of meterless damage.

  • Windsagio

Heh more pseudo internet toughguys. Weren’t you guys just doing this about AE? Kids these days are so spoiled!

ps: Tooltchy its certainly a bug.

  • phantasy

yeah, uncounterable chun li infinite is the biggest thing from this, imo

    • Windsagio

Trick if you try to open with zero to set this up, you might just end up being Marn’d

  • samirerre

i cant belive mvc3 is still alive

  • kdotlo

Sweet! I can dhc trick into zero and tag back out and do mag’s flight combo and get some meter gain now!

  • Mechanica

Is the zero one even that easy to replicate?

    • kdotlo

It’s pretty easy to replicate if your team is set to DHC glitch into Zero. I played around yesterday and was able to figure out a combo that starts with Magneto, DHC glitch into Zero, then do his corner dive kick/shadow loop, then do this trick with the air tag back into Magneto’s flight combo. After all is said and done, I end up with a whole meter more than I started with and a little over 1.1 million damage dealt

  • Cauldrath

I forget who did the video, but there was a V. Joe combo where he used charged Voomerang to do the same thing.

    • Evil_ToasterofFP

Oooo, that sounds tricky. I assume it requires an assist or some extremely specific setup.

  • 2dfightermf

lol its funny that the people who are complaining probably have yet to find anything broken in this game on their own. if it werent for youtube they probably wouldnt even know how to play their derpchart weskers and wolverines let alone know about the existence of stuff like this.

  • NyuBomber

Heck yea, Shuma tech, he’s one of my mains!

  • ahdonye

Funny, alot of people cry about phoenix, but it is Zero that gives me the most trouble in this game….lil helmet wearing basterd gives me nightmares…not crying or asking for a nerf, just admiting I a weak against Zero :(

  • Thancruz

lol@ ppl thinking that Wolverine/Akuma=MVC3 figured out.

    • Grimbear13

agreed, it’s the same idea as what happen with AE. Yun and Yang came out and blew up the scene. But now people are getting used to them and their original characters are blowing up the people who switched. The Wolverine/Akuma team works but… get hit… and you die. Please dive kick my hulk while my fist is in the air, I garuntee you’ll lose 60% if not die if I have the meter.

      • Zmoney2006

Or Dante’s hammer, or weskers high counter/hyper counter, or taskmasters counter, or sentinel’s c.mp, or sentinels s.H, etc I can go on.

  • HASJ

Zero just got in my team because Wesker and Magneto need meter.

  • ILL_BILL

This is the best and worst part of MVC3. I’m sure there will be things like this that pop up as the game progresses, which is awesome, and if it was any other game, these sorts of things would develop the metagame, and ultimately make it a deeper fighting game experience. The trouble with MVC3 is that, even though its an amazing sandbox in terms of what may be possible, the game has already reached a state where almost any character can land one hit, pop x factor, kill off a character, and then set themselves up for a 50/50 mixup that leads into another 100% combo etc. I realise this doesn’t happen too often, but the way you see matches unfold revolve around this basic theory. Its not a question of ‘will this game develop further?’, its a question of, “why does the game need to be developed beyond a 100% combo into a 50/50 mixup into a 100% combo into a 50/50 mixup?” (besides to get a third 100% combo on the end and trollface your way to perfecting your opponent) Fact is, the game has already reached a point where further development is just cosmetic. This sounds like a big ass fucking whine, and I guess it kind of is. I love this game, and ill continue to play it, but I think it has a couple of major flaws that are hampering its lasting power tbh. I would love to play this game with a bit less damage, and no X-Factor. Or even give X-factor some tweaks. ie. No damage buff, just a combo extender. And possibly give it combo-breaker properties for instance. Im sure there will be 100 people sitting there spouting ‘OMG KID STOP COMPLAINING LULZ’ and shitting all over my opinion on the game. Meh. Good for them.

    • ILL_BILL

Oh dear god thats a wall of text. I will totally not be insulted by the next 10 posts being TL/DR’s

    • Grimbear13

I’ve only seen a few (possibly just Wolverine) have the kind of priority speed and damage to do what you mentioned at anything above level 3 xfactor. I do agree Xfactor needs to be reworked especially at the higher tiers. I can tell you I’ve lost a ton of matches to lvl3 just because it’s too risky to attempt anything against lv3 xfactor characters and if you get touched you may as well write that character off. And one of the key problems is that people have already settled into what Jwong exposed early on with Wolverine and She-Hulk teams so not as many people are trying to experiment. Granted certain high tier characters like Wolverine do (to my understanding) make certain other characters useless like Felicia. I heard James Chen say he uses her because he likes her but there’s nothing she can do that Wolvy can’t do better. So all I think the game is missing is some character balancing and Xfactor tweaking. And then discoveries like this will be much more prominent.

      • Zmoney2006

I think you’re right. Just remember to let everyone know. Buffs not Nerfs!!!! Support the cause!

    • Evil_ToasterofFP

I don’t get why people complain about 100% combos in Marvel 3 and everyone thinks MvC2 was a better game for some reason.

  • UltimateKisame27

LOL that pretty much makes the counter useless…why even bother…

  • Grimbear13

Hrm wonder if this works with Doom Missiles assist… TO THE LAB!

    • lojer

If clockwork starts doing this with his pheonix team, this thing could get OP pretty quick.

  • Grimbear13

Also wish I was good at discovering stuff in these games :( . I’d love to show up with some neat Hulk/Taskmaster/Doom tech, but best I can do is emulate others and try to tie it together.

    • Thancruz

Not everyone has to be “That guy” who discovered Hulk’s gamma wave corner trap, or Spencer’s Bionic Arm cancel thingy majig lol. I think people should just let these things come to them instead of forcing it.
