MvC2 – Psylocke Corner Infinite with Hands View

Romneto sent over a video in which he performs Psylocke’s corner Psy-blast infinite in Marvel vs Capcom 2 until his opponent dizzies out. He also included a view of his hands while performing the combo, to help hopeful players figure out the timing. Romneto also noted that he is more than willing to help if you are having trouble with the spacing or timing, so drop your questions in the comments.

    this is nice.

I’ve tried to do this for a while, then I just gave up.

  • 818Jin

Yea really nice. I wonder if it can only be done on Juggy?

    • Romneto

The Infinite can be done on all small, medium, large, giant sized characters. The only characters I am not sure about are Servbot and Roll. To do it on a medium size character such as Cable, it would go as follows:

Psylocke: [ c hp, sj lp, hp Psy-Blast, hp Psy-Blast, sj lp, hp Psy-Blast, hp Psy-Blast, (land), ] Repeat what is in brackets. Those 2 consecutive Psy-Blasts must be executed rapidly.

  • freija

nah it can be done on everyone

  • Shinji Mimura

Wasn’t aware it was still the cool thing to say “it’s mahvel baby” (nor did I know that infinites, in MvC2, were really a big secret)

    • Romneto

It is not that the Infinite is a secret. The Infinite is quite rare though. People hardly ever perform it in matches, and you would be hard pressed to even find many videos of this Infinite on Youtube.

I was not going for “cool” at the end of the video. I was HYPE because it is tough to do this Infinite all the way to dizzy.

      • kingKoopa

        Haters Gon Hate.

    • ahdonye

It’s still cool, new players every week and finding out this stuff for the first time. Even us old basterds who skipped out on video games from 1995-2010 who are experencing shit like MvC2, 3S, CvS2 for the first time this year and sharing the joy with our 6&10 year olds

    • TooItchy

You’re a hater, straight up. Why did you bother clicking on this in the first place? No one likes a hater, sucks to be you.

  • xStingy

    How old is your stick?

    • Romneto

I bought the MAS stick in 2003. So it is about 8 years old. It is a MAS Super Nova Perfect 360 Joystick that works for both Dreamcast and Xbox 360 (dual mod).

  • Thillygewth

    YEAH ROMNETO!

  • Shwaffles

Just Brett showing off his Higher Psylocke. Nothing unexpected here, folks. :)

  • First Attack

Yo, good shit Brett! I can still only do 2 reps of that infinite. We gotta get some more games in soon, hit me up!

    • Romneto

Yeah man we will get some matches in next week on Crackbox live, haha.

2 reps of the Infinite is impressive. What character(s) do you practice on?

      • First Attack

Juggs…of course. I’ve been trying to do it on Sent but the timing seems to be a bit different and I can’t seem to get the hang of it.

        • Romneto

Blackheart takes about the same timing as Sentinel.

Basically, on Sentinel it is crucial to do the initial: sj lp, hp Psy-Blast VERY fast. Then you want to wait as long as possible to do that next sj lp, and then delay the sj lk, sj lp. After you have that part consistently, the lp, lp, hp Psy-Blast, sj lp, sj lp is easy.

I recorded my hands/joystick and the gameplay video of 2 repetitions (27 hits) on Sentinel. I chose not to upload it though, since I wanted to do more reps.

          • First Attack

Thanks man, always willing to help out and spread you knowledge. Much appreciated, as always!

  • ahdonye

    great video :)

  • Prophestus

Romneto has one of the illest youtube channels

    • Romneto

Thank you for the kind words. I do my best to spread knowledge about MvC2.

  • RageQuit420

    see…you got ya boy…doctor doom’s rocks

  • Diernes

why the hell is this chick not in fucking mvc3? She has just as much right to be in as Magneto, and don’t even get me started on sentinel….

  • KIRAA

    good 2 see mvc2 again =)

  • CannonSpike

I wish I had this kind of skill!!! When I go online with mvc2 more often than not I find myself watching while the other player juggles the holy crap out of my character, and it only seems to end when I’m defeated or they mistime something. I’m probably missing something crucial though, so maybe I should stick to the old footsies game in ST.

However, you sir, have mad mvc2 skillz. Well played!

    • Romneto

Many players have reached advanced levels of understanding of MvC2 combos and how to land the initial hit. Although the combos are often the most visually impressive aspect of many matches, the ability to position your character and land the hit (that opens up combo possibilities) is just as crucial. By continuing to play more, you will begin to see how to set up players for getting hit into combos.

Don;t give up on the game. I suggest more time in Training Mode to become familiar with the mechanics of the combo engine. For many years I would play training mode for 6-8 hours a day. Now I do most combos in my arsenal without much difficulty at all. Muscle memory is a beautiful thing.

      • CannonSpike

Hey thanks for the advice. I think that sometimes there are so many projectiles flying at me that I have trouble even getting close enough to land that first hit, and I don’t want to start jumping in to get closer because in this game that’s an even bigger no no than usual.

But again, thanks, you’ve helped me see that positioning is a big problem for me because I haven’t yet figured out how to actually get near my opponent when the fireballs start flying. I’ll keep at it.

  • RowJoe

I would probably not pay much attention to anyone who has “shin” in their username. Good video. =)

    • Romneto

Thanks. RowJoe. That is wise advice.

  • UltimateKisame27

The timing seems to be a bitch for me, they can block after the psyblast. What am I doing wrong?

    • Romneto

Which Psy-Blast can they block after? If it is after the first one, then you are not doing the initial sj lp, hp psy-Blast fast enough. The sj lp must hit while the character is considerably higher than Psylocke on the vertical axis. The Psy-Blast must be executed as fast as possible after that, so that Psylocke has plenty of time to recover and attack before the hitstun ends.

If it is after the second Psy-Blast (i.e. sj lp, sj lk, sj lp, hp Psyblast), then you need to do those 3 hits slower, to keep the opponent higher.

Let me know if that helps.

  • X_Sword

Guess what I just did? remindmyself to remind you guys that the MvC2 Wiki is incomplete, and that this vid should go in Psys page:D

    • Romneto

Yes, this video should go on the Psylocke Wiki page. Great observation!

Also, I noticed that on the Wiki page it says that Psylocke does not really have any Infinites, except one on Sentinel. Psylocke has 4 or 5 Infinites.

  • DrumlinerJoe

    Great stuff as always Rom.

  • KingofSarus

    Dat hype!

  • xero15

    Ah the good old days

  • Ralkila

    memories

  • Zmoney2006

Ok I know this is going to sound like a stupid noob question (which it absolutely is) but I have been hearing SO MUCH about MVC2 from everything it offers and I am new to the FGC. The first game I played was tekken 6 and started (and quite propmptly ended) SFIV. I have only been playing fighting games and taking them to a competitive level for about almost 6 months now However I have learned a lot. I know play mvc 3 and am trying out 3rd strike but I just got a stick and I REALLY want to play a fighting game classic that really demanded high execution to pull things off. I think MVC2 is that game but I honest to god don’t know where I should go to start learning it. I know the scene for it is still alive but I want to REALLY get into it and play at a intermediate – high level. ANy ideas on where I should start? (And please don’t troll and say youtube or “JUST LOOK AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE” because I am already viewing that information as we speak.

    • Phase_ONE

Honestly the best thing to do is just start playing and find which characters you feel comfortable. PLay against friends and the computer. ( for the comp just vs raise the difficulty level which each pass through the arcade mode. And yes, watch youtube videos… i cant say how much they have helped my game out. Even combos like this whcih seem a bit more difficult still drill certain ideas and thoughts inside your head to help improve game play. Also EVEN WATCH VIDEOS OF CHARACTERS YOU DONT USE, this has helped me a lot . It lets me figure out way to counter or attack against fighters who do not appeal to myself or match my6 play style.

On topic this makes me wanna break out MVC2 again!! Awesome stuff. I cant see why people click on a topic just to come inside and hate. Mad respect to Rom!

      • Phase_ONE

        comfortable with* (edit that please)

  • Sevans

Yo, Romneto, do you play on PS3? I’ve got nobody else to play in my area, they’ve all converted to MvC3. It’d be nice to have some matches.

    • Romneto

I only play online on XBL. With my busy schedule, I only have time for one online community. BY all means though if you have any friends who play on XBL, send me a Youtube message and tell me when you will play at their Xbox 360.

  • taiji

    Great video Brett!

    • Romneto

      Thanks Ace. MSP for life.

  • Thancruz

That’s my boy, kinda surprised there isn’t any MVC2 hate comments lol.

  • MegamanDS

    romfinite?

    • Romneto

You trying to start controversy, Dan? My name is Romneto.

Romfinite has never made any significant contributions to the MvC2 community. That is not even an insult, it is a FACT.
