You Asked, Daigo Answers (Part Final)

Capcom-Unity’s “Daigo Answers” series has come to a close. In this, the final installment, Daigo continues answering questions from the fans.

1) How do you always keep your cool during tournament matches?

–Masterj22

Daigo: I rely a lot on my experience, meaning my daily practice and my familiarity with the atmosphere of tournaments that I acquired over years. That experience has trained me to logically think, in stead of emotionally reacting. I can analyze a situation and find a best course of action based on the match and the individual player’s style, which has become my second nature.

    Not working

  • Ellipsen

Why are you so gdlk and no one can beat you. WHYYY?

  • Essence

I’d probably be willing to pay 100$ for a one time two hour session just having matches with Diago. Video games doesn’t take as much skill as say a sport no matter how good the player is but that’s not important.

    • NightPirate

lol i bet you wouldnt take a single round in 2 hours

      • AmigoOne

Im pretty sure the chances of him winning LOWER as time goes on. Since its just one long session

        • Smorgasboard

Nah, Daigo usually sandbags the first round to download his opponent. So he’ll take that round and do nothing but lose after that.

        • weapon007

going down from 100 percent winning to 99percent winning is not going to make a difference

  • Unek

this guy is a legend for a reson i see him winning ssf4 ae @ evo!

    • MrSoada

derr I think everyone can seeing as he has the last two.

  • Essence

Well seriously put I wouldn’t mind having a session because he’s that popular and is accepted as good. Evo and stuff like that matches fly by and you never really sit around long enough compared to say playing someone for a long extended amount of time. Also don’t use words such as legend, you sound more like a fan than a gamer.

    • NightPirate

Maybe he is a fan… and a gamer. I don’t like your comments btw.

      • GunHammers

mike ross says something : everyone jumps on it like eggs and bacon

  • rbtopp

krone is going to take this fool down

    • echizen20

this fool has already took down krone last time they met.

      • TrueWu

The whole US community needed Yun practice. Just by watching the matches when they met, we knew he didn’t really know the Yun matchup. This will definately be a wait and see thing though.

    • magocyber

that is unlikely to happen, I really don’t think there is any north american that could take Daigo out, there is always the hope but I’m just being realistic about it, I think daigo will have a harder time against the Asians, Mago, Tokido, and the Koreans.

  • offersspam

Link doesn’t work, but that looks like Capcom’s problem, since it doesn’t work on that site.

In other news, did you guys know you could totally use Zazzle.com for sweet Monster Hunter 3: Tri sweatshirts?? AWESOME.

    • O.Red

I thought I was the only one. Has anyone read it yet?

  • TheTHCGamer

from what ive read and the time ive spent on capcomunity it just seems like a complaint site. People are always complaining about things like having to pay for DLC costumes and which characters seem cheap.

    • TrueWu

Thats the way the internet is. More people will run to their computer to complain than to compliment.

  • .dub.

Interesting. From seeing a King Of Chinatown clip – the above quote is just about the opposite to how Justin Wong plays. Justin saying he relies on reaction and “thinking too much is bad”.

  • Stuart Hayden

Man. All the people who asked those questions sure to like the taste of diago’s dick.

    • echizen20

And everyone who immediately can’t stand the thought of people backing up Daigo or looking up to him will always just say something about Daigo’s dick or dickriding him. Pathetic.

      • Stuart Hayden

I have no issues with Daigo. At all. He’s an outstanding player, no doubt. I just hate the way people put him on a pedestal. He’s just a dude who plays video games. Read that slowly. He just plays video games.

Why is there a reason to ride his nuts?

        • weapon007

yea, hes just a dude that plays video game, but the people that likes him are dudes that like him for playing video game. i think thats relevant enough. they never mention anything outside of that.

and the reason to ride his nuts? i don’t think anyone riding his nuts, they just fan of him and hes that good. It’s the way you worded it that’s offensive.

its like sayin, why you got to be a scrubby no life hater? instead of just saying you are not a fan.

          see the difference?

          • ghandis spatula

How’s the taste of daigo’s nuts?

          • White Ren

            @ghandis spatula
How’s the taste of your own shitpost?

Seriously – you want V.Sagat back? Fail.

Yun is OP? So is Yang? Really? REALLY? – given I’m not a great player, however, vs many, many, many Yun players I can sit and block 75-90% of the time and they just keep doing block strings – at least until I reversal them out of it. SIt and block – it works.. Eventually you can land the jabs in response to a sloppy dive kick so if you’ve got your two EX bars and the execution skill to combo into 400+ damage that’s almost half of Yun’s life right there plus a knock down to apply pressure. Assuming you apply wake up pressure one wrong guess means Yun will almost certainly be stunned and/or down 75% of his life – which means you go back into turtle mode and make him take risks to catch up. As soon as he screws up its pretty close to GG. If he’s gets stunned its probably GG right there.

IMHO, Cammy in super was more deadly as you had to deal with high/low block on her tkcs – which meant less than 50/50 guess because she didn’t have to tkcs and could let the regular jump continue to stuff your anti-air or block/crouch tech timing. Good Cammy players who could mix up had to be kept out or it felt like 2/3 of the time you ate another combo.

Would I like to see some of Yun’s moves with less frame advantage on block – yes. However, IMVHS (in my very humble scrubby opinion) this won’t stop divekick pressure or the lack of defense that is the problem most players suffer from. Yun will still split you open like a ripe watermelon if you don’t know how to block.

    • ghandis spatula

Well in your very humble scrubby opinion you are wrong. V.Sagat with both meters full couldn’t do the damage yun could do with a full super. You really must be playing some really shitty players if they don’t frame trap you or bait reversals. Not to mention yangs DP is safe for a DP.

And Cannon spike ALWAYS hits low. TK CS was used in combos! Her pressure came from her normals, meatys and grabs. Very basic stuff integrated with slightly more advanced stuff. In AE you can STILL TK CS.

Not to mention yun’s power doesn’t come from his frame advantage, yangs normals are way better, as well are mak’s and fei’s. And his dive kick game is sub par compared to rufus’. It’s slightly annoying because he can avoid fireballs. His problem is his ridiculous damage, his “corner carries,” his juggle potential and the fact that he can dish out ultra-esque damage without meter.

Everyone gets hit, its how bad you get fucked when you get hit thats the problem.

    • Sottle

I hate to give you the cliched response, but it’s true. You haven’t played a good Yun yet.

Sit and block does not work against a character with a command grab. As soon as Yun gets in it’s a guessing game massively in his favour. You know how everyone used to complain about the situation you were in after a blocked Abel step kick? Yun is that but better, plus a divekick. Not to mention, Yun can pretty much get in for free.

Also, you do know that you can block TKCS low right?

  • SendMaster

This is one evo I don’t want Diago to win. Will be proudly cheering against him.

  • Mr Oso

Cool that he answered the questions. Judging from Diagos awnsers he seems like hed be the most boring person to hangout with if there were no videogames around hah.

  • yoshiwaan

Haha, love question 6. I can just imagine a misty morning in a japan, Daigo is dressed in his track suite, running up a hill with a sack of fightsticks on his back. He reaches the top and places each one in turn on a log, then breaks them in half with a single shoryuken motion, then throws 1000 SF4 Disks into the trunk of a nearby tree, before finally reciting the frame advantage of every single move of every character in SF4 while standing on his head. All to a jazzy piano number.

  • TheTHCGamer

@TruWu its so true and anyone can just take a peek at the capcomunity SSFIV AE forums to see how many people have run to there computers to complain. Tons of complaint topics and complaint posts. If i were CAPCOM id just get rid of the unity forums because all i does is make them look bad.

  • maathimself

” I don’t think you need to have huge biceps to play a fighting game, but I recommend a fair amount of exercise to stay mentally fit and have a regular work out routine.”

I think this may be what the American players are missing.

    • SVN4

Exactly, just like the best Marvel 2 & 3 players on the planet………

      • White Ren

When only Americans played Marvel, it was not surprising to see Americans being the best Marvel players on the planet.

  • O.Red

    WHY CAN’T I READ IT?
