SSF4AE – Yun 845 Damage Combo and Damage Testing by Desk

Desk’s latest starts off with an extremely high damage corner Yun combo, and then leads into a few damage tests. In the damage tests, you’ll see how the same combo can do slightly different damage against different opponents.

I dont really understand the point of the damage test. Its been known that lower health characters start scaling faster than high health characters…

  • igotapwner

    that dudley…

  • LordJim

In the end, nothing beats TAP.
It’s my hope someone manages to land a full one at an actual ‘big’ event

Poongko already did. Balrog mirror match. He did nothing but sit on his hands…. and them BOOM. You can probably find it on youtube. There aren’t many Poongko, Balrog mirrors out there. I don’t think it was a major tournie, but he was a tourny and it looked like pools plays, not a big moment.

oops, never mind. Its just online play and its vs a sim, lol. But, still funny as hell to watch.

        ^ lol

  • VOLTECH

I wonder why he doesn’t use the 10x palm combo with Yun in that first combo?

Also if you look at the numbers Gief actually takes more damage in both combos, He just has more health overall so he’s left with more in the end.

from my experience with ssf4 training mode (most likely same for AE):

When your opponent is near death, they receive less damage. So in the beginning, (combos, attacks, etc) do MORE significant damage than the later part. This affects ALL types of damage you inflict on the opponent.

In this video, different characters have different levels of health and so the overall games health scale factor shows different damage to different characters.

    • Dragonfall

      100-51% health = 100% damage
      16-20% health = 90% damage
      1-15% health = 75% damage

These are on top of combo scaling. So 5th hit of a combo when the opponent has 10% health = 0.75*0.6 = 45% damage.

point is – this is not news, even to noobs. Why is DESK of all people treating it like a new discovery?

  • Okamiwolf250

WTF was that Dudley combo? jesus, I guess EX ducking punch actually has more use than I thought!

  • Kich

I unfortunately can’t see the video for some reason because my shit is broken, but if the big reveal is that high health characters don’t start taking their damage scaling for awhile because the damage scaling is based on %’ages, welcome to years ago.

Anyone in training mode should have figured that out in literally the first 12 seconds of beating on someone, it tells you in the damage meter.

This was known like 15 minutes into the release of vanilla Street Fighter 4.

  • seyu

    What Yem said seems right.

  • Sadistic Masochist

basically the more damage a character can take, the more damage a combo does on said character. also theres a difference in damage dealt depending on how much life the character has left.

i think RB series was the first series where this was very noticable. the second bar you could more damage, but if you did a super tha did over 1 bar of damage on the second life bar they would survive, yet they would die if this done at the end of the first bar even though they have more life left. this was also a weird oditty.

  • Kich

You people can’t possibly think this is actually new information. I mean seriously Yem? Just walk into training mode, it tells you -exactly- what percent your moves are doing. It doesn’t “Seem” to, it objectively does, it even tells you the exact number..

    god people..

    • Yem

Sorry I don’t consider the consequences of criticism when I’m trying to provide clarity of information for the community.

Also the information was off the top of my head and not in my hand. So thinking about my choice for vocabulary was correct.

Don’t be so offended when people come here for information and try to support. This article wasn’t about you in any way. If it did then I’m sorry for your misunderstanding.

      • NinthSymphony

Bravo, yem. Handled that extremely tactfully.

  • Monokeros

I think the point of this video was just showing people that Yun is going to be styling on people for a lot longer now.

  • MeLLoW

lol @ people not knowing Dudley’s EX Duck Straight / Upper.

  • Supernova

    Yet more Yun… *YAWN*
