G4′s Fightin Words – Clockw0rk Explains Jill

The latest part of G4′s Fightin Words Episode 5 (part 4) is a good seven minutes of Clockw0rk talking about Marvel vs Capcom 3′s Jill. Clock shows some of the Mad Beast mode combos and resets he was using before he decided to stop using Jill, which should definitely give aspiring Jill users some good ideas.

  • roq

“which should definitely give aspiring Jill users some good ideas.”

You mean like deciding to stop using Jill?

    • OrehRatiug

      Dohohoho

    • ironboy89

No, how about cracked out Jill’s abilities so that we can what the bitch can do.

I get that some characters are low tier, but that ain’t a excuse for not exploring the character. It’s just laziness to pretend there is no point of defining all character in this game just because Wolverine wins tournament.

      • sakeido

Jill is straight up bad in this game. There is absolutely no reason to play her… at all. There is nothing she can do that another character can’t do much better.

        • Mightfo

          >implying feral stance cancelling, mad beast, etc don’t give her large potential
Ever hear of mixup, pressure, tricks and mobility?

        • ironboy89

Who…cares! There is no logically reason what so ever explore not to Jill just because there is a better character, currently. We should know what the character can do at the end of this game’s life. Her current tier placement doesn’t mean it couldn’t change. For the better or the worse.

If you don’t…why should I believe in any tier list if people don’t do the full research?

          • stew

People usually don’t learn the full potential of a character for a very long time, and even after a few years of the game being out new techniques and new strategies can develop. Just think of how good Clockw0rk’s Strider Sent Doom team is in MVC2. This isn’t a strategy that was thought up or cultivated over night, but took many years to fine-tune.

        • robotic elf

Disagree. She has a bunch of great tools, the reason you don’t see many Jill players is the same reason you don’t see many Spiderman players, which is that they doesn’t have anything that somebody else can’t do just as well, with around a tenth of the required execution, so unless you either really like her specific details, or you’re just a really flashy bastard, using her is just absurdly inefficient.

  • abacus

that Mad Beast combo sounded like A-Sakura

  • GalzPanic

Yeah, Jill is bad and doesn’t deserve expoloration =]

    • ironboy89

      UGH!

What’s of point of making tiers if you don’t put the effort of understanding All characters, matchups, and their viability? Tell me. Why should you be judging how good characters are if you don’t know most of their capabilities?

      • GalzPanic

        Trolling, I use Jill =]

        • ironboy89

I feel stupid now…but it doesn’t change my point >_>

          • GalzPanic

No worries I couldn’t spell exploration so w/e. There’s only so much that matters on a comment board and what matters least is when people tell you what characters you shouldn’t use.

  • Mightfo

Her power up super reminds me of Furinkazan. Good shit.

Also, doesn’t Morrigan also get meter during her power up super?

    • shotofighter4

Yes she does. She doesn’t get to keep it on a tag-out like the other characters though.

  • FlashMetroid

What a piece of shit Jill guide nice job covering absolutely nothing but the shit that isn’t important to her game lol this has to be a troll

    • Clockw0rk

While there is a semantics issue when it comes to the name of the video, I apologize that it was so bad that you felt it necessary to call it a piece of shit. I’ll try harder next time. If i end up re-visiting Jill in another video, would you be willing to help out with it?

Flash vs. Clock in a First to 10 Jill team match – GO!

      • b3nz0r

        Classy response

  • Syxx573

    lol flash

ya why watch a guide when he is so stuck on characters like dark phoenix against players who are actually good

  • LSlick

Even though Clockwork has moved on to other characters, that does not mean people should not explore the character. For all we know, there is something that Jill has that no one else has that people can exploit to make her a good character. Any info on Jill is greatly appreciated in my opinion

  • FlyingVe

Who needs combos in mad beast? (236B>236A)xN is an infinite.

  • GalzPanic

Trolling aside I’m not really a big fan of Mad Beast. Jill is random enough with FC cancels and in level 3XF you can kill pretty much anyone off one hit using 1 meter at a time or none at all in most cased.

If anything I think her command throw is underutilized.

Overall Jill is hardly the worst character imo. Once you have your BnBs down she is very deadly. The trick is having the right team to take advantage of the things she does really well (crossups, overheads, DHC trick).

  • Chun Pai

I like to see these explorations into “low tier” characters but I think even moreso than marvel 2 there just isn’t going to be room for a character who can’t easily kill in one combo, provide some kind of invincible assist, or mount a comeback in level 3 XF.

    • GalzPanic

She combos nicely into DHC trick and her crossover counter flash kick is really good. Also she’s really good in XF3 imo.

  • FlashMetroid

I guess I shouldn’t really call it a piece of shit that might of been a little too harsh it’s just the over all picture is upsetting. I haven’t really watched your other episodes because I am not interested in seeing anything from your normal team but it seems counter productive for a person of your stature to make a video like this. “G4′s Fightin Words – Clockw0rk Explains Jill”, “Fightin Words Episode 5 MvC3 Jill Guide With Clockwork Part 4″ if I was a random person and I saw these headlines I would think to myself “Oh shit its Clockw0rk and hes making a Jill video hell yea I’ve been waiting for a “pro” to make one”. If this was the video I saw after being all excited about finally learning Jill I would instantly forget about ever learning her because there was absolutely nothing in this video.

    • Clockw0rk

Believe you me, I understand exactly what you’re saying ;b

If anytime you’re in CA, hit me up and we’ll set something up. I’m a big fan and I think it’d be sick for you to show us some stuff.

      Clock

  • FlashMetroid

and about the help on your next one yea sure I can do that

  • WWDeity

    Ill admit…the title was a little misleading…
But i still learned some nifty stuff, regardless :D

  • deci

    lol jill is brokenly good.

just have pulsr explain it next time…

  • Quiksilver

flashmetroid is a skinny little bitch. he’s just talking shit cause he isn’t on G4. i’ve seen him play mvc2, and that nigga is FREE. stick to lame ass street fighter 4. good shit, clock

  • F0xhound009

mad beast mode + x-factor is worthless unless u are a masher err nvm it’s worthless. uncontrolable just like wolv in zerker + factor. Really wish they gave us the mvc2 style Jill

  • YanDaMan

So about dat Jill image for this article….where is it from?

    • Sethlon

Its from the second Resident Evil: Apocalypse, the second resident evil movie.

  • outputrotation

Jill is shit because Capcom rushed her out the door without polishing her. As you can see from the video, Mad Beast is a horrible super. 3 Bars for an uncontrollably random super that you can’t even kill someone reliably with even if it does it ?? If a Pro can’t even get anything good out of it what does Capcom expect the rest of us to do with it?
