MvC3 – Morrigan Combos from Japan

SMOAI uploaded another Marvel vs Capcom 3 combo video from an unnamed Japanese video producer. This one is focused on Morrigan, and while her combo options might seem limited, the video really puts her tools to good use.

  • KeijidaKilla

that last combo looks so damn pretty…

    • Narcowski

It also seems to set up for her XF3 100% blockstring (Fireball x N in AV mode), which is pretty cool. Too bad other characters can do more for it.

  • Nini Heart

Wow. I feel sorry for Morrigan players. So much work for so little damage.

    • GirugaMarc

yeah, really. Characters like her are so obsolete when you can just herpderp it up with characters that are way easier and do more damage.

    • Banzboy

Yeah, that’s what i basicly feel when I use her. She was one of my first characters i chose and I eventually dropped her because it all not worth the effort.

  • DietDrKelp

Jesus christ not even in a combo video is she impressive. What a waste of a potential darkstalker character instead of her.

  • BREEExKinzoku

I love morrigan in TvC, but thats probably because She was fast. I dont see anything New here, but either way, I still Love Morrigan.

  • Blacksonic21

Her combos are so pretty to look at, But damn all that meter and not to mention the execution required to use these combos, make using Morrigan a hard sell if you’re not a character loyalist.

  • Zmoney2006

I’m sorry but this character is lacking in damage to the utmost extreme. Any character that cannot kill another character (without X-factor) after using all five bars of meter (consisting of 2 one-level hypers and 1 three level hyper) is absolutely useless in every respect. Please help this poor character out Capcom because I cannot see any reason to use her compared to everyone else.

  • thejohnsonrock

she’s my main and i luff herr :(
canceling the standing H into the mirror mode super and xfactoring the lag of it and comboing is genius. i mean if you get a birthday present caught in her standing h, that’s about it. mirror mode super on the last character coming in and chip them with fireballs until they HAVE to x-factor. then it’s more zoning if u do afraid.

  • Pertho

She has her Zoning. They really need to give her back her MvC2 dash and beam super. Those rockets are ass.

  • xS A M U R A Ix

Morrigan: ” I used a high level combo and 4 supers and ALMOST killed taskmaster, I feel awesome!”

    Wolverine: “Kids these days…”

    • Leafhopper

You realize Morrigan is probably older than Wolverine right? I get the joke but it kinda doesn’t work :P

      • HASJ

LOL, never thought it that way, but maybe Morrigan is the 3rd oldest character in teh game, losing only to Dormammu and Shum-shum (Galactus aside).

  • ITguy

who would waste 4 bars of meter for a Morriagan Combo?

    • ITguy

      Morrigan

      • b3nz0r

lol, I thought you were answering your own question and thought it was pretty hilarious.

But yes, Morrigan would waste 4 bars of meter for a Morrigan combo.

  • juggernaut1981

Most of those seemed pretty useless except the meter-less Xfactor Thor killer at the end.

    • CageAndrews

Hate to burst your bubble, but Mirror Super was at the beginning of the combo.

Still an impressive combo for Morrigan, but all the rest of them are extremely low damage for all the execution you have to have to do it.

    • CageAndrews

execution/meter* is what I meant to say.

  • Mercurial

Wut. Morrigan still builds meter in mirror mode?

Why wouldn’t all of her combos be Hit Confirm -> Assist+Mirror -> Fancy shit into Rockets, then? That might at least, be like, 700kish, for relatively little meter if you account for meter build.

    • Vicioushellsing

You would actually gain meter with the right combo. Not much but for a combo that uses 2 meters to end up with positive gain isn’t bad. Too bad its just not practical.

  • AirLancer

What would really help her out is if her minimum damage scaling was increased, to say, 20% for her normals instead of her current 10%. Also, if more than half of the freakin rockets would actually hit the opponent when you combo into it from the air.

  • shotofighter4

I had played Morrigan quite a bit since week 1 but had to finally drop her. She has a nice variety of tools and can move between zoning and rushing down relatively well, and is less narrow than many characters because of it. But her damage output is so low, she’s not *particularly* fast, and she’s typical Capcom female HP level. I hate to say she’s probably one of the weakest if not the weakest character in the game. I still use her, and can still win with her if I’m very careful and a bit lucky, but she’s simply not worth using as is right now.

  • Super moose

I’ve been playing her since day 1 out of loyalty and yeah Capcom needs to help her out a bit.

    • Super moose

And please give her a wavedash like in MvC 2 but keep the part from her current dash where if you hold the direction she glides.

  • NyuBomber

They should make her Shadow Blade assist invincible.

    That’d be fun.

  • Kei_

Morrigan looked pretty freaking sexy at the hands of JJJ at UFGT7.

  • the7k

Started with the Darkstalkers Team, simply because I love the series so much.

Had to drop Hsien-Ko for Dante, as he had an effective assist yet was still good on point.

Had to drop Morrigan for Taskmaster, as he can zone better AND rush-down better, plus his assists are better.

Now, the only Darkstalker character I have left is Felicia. I’m good with her, but when facing down a Wolverine or Wesker… yeah. I usually have to DHC to Taskmaster if I have to fight either of them. At least her assist can set up some easy unblockable situations with both Taskmaster and Dante.

Capcom is making it hard to show the Darkstalkers any love in this game.

  • Svenuser

    I wanted to main Morrigan so badly ;_;
If only her potential as a character was as large as her jiggle.

  • Shinkada

Her combos are terrible, but, she is still a pretty good character. Her meter building assist is great, and since her mirror image super still lets her build meter (unlike basically every other install type super in the game) she’s probably potentially one of the single best lockdown characters. A team like Dormammu/Morrigan/MODOK would probably be really, really good. Unless you were facing a Wolverine, then you’re basically screwed.
