    lol the elephant in the room is that they all know mvc3 is absolute garbage compared to mvc2

      Even if you think MvC 3 sucks compared to MvC2, you STILL have to admit that even with Phoenix and X Factor, so far the teams have much more variety than just MvC 2′s Big Four with Psylocke of Commando on the team for NOTHING else other than anti air assist. And hopefully as this game ages even more characters’ potential will be unlocked and we see even more variety among tourney teams.

        well a single character in mvc2 has about as much depth and potential as 4 combined in mvc3, plus balance doesn’t redeem a trash game, plus you’re comparing a 5 month old game to a 10 year old game. tons of stuff was viable 5 months into mvc2. you’re already seeing the paring down of mvc3′s viable teams, within a few months it’s gonna be mostly wolvie/phx and characters that can beat those characters.

    I like the TvC fighting system more than MvC 2 and MvC3. You could still make comebacks if you get a good combo in with barouqe cancel, but it’s not as overpowered as x-factor. And it requires sacrifice (red life). And there was also mega crash. I think MvC3 needs a mega crash/burst. And x-factor needs some sort of sacrifice (like 3 meters or something).

    Am I the only one who finds G4′s attempt to reachout to the hardcore fighting game community kind of…awkward? I know it’s good for figthting games to become more mainstream and widen their appeal, but half the time these G4 features just make me cringe a little.

      Also, shout outs to G4 getting MVC2 pros like JWong, Sanford, and Yipes to do this and not someone like Mike Ross.

    I’m pissed that the FGC just dropped this game like it was fucking nothing just because MvC3 came out. I’ve had comments from both Jwong and Clockw0rk and they just abandoned THEIR game. What the fuck is up with that? It’s really lame the way the scene treated MvC2. SF3 is about to see ANOTHER revival and MvC2 is left to rot. BS.

    It’s a bad game.

    The only reason people kept playing marvel in the first place was the license and the fact that there wasn’t anything else.

    They made it into something cool and special, but in the basics its really no good.

      I actually kind of agree here. Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of good times playing the game. But it’s for what he said : lack of anything better to play, not that the game itself was just TOO EPIC FOR WORDS

      Marvel 3 may have been just as rushed as Marvel 2, but at least balance (in the sense that every character can be useful) was an obvious focus with Marvel 3. Marvel 2 may have had tons of characters copy-pasted from previous Capcom fighters, but only 12 tops were relevant in any way shape or form.

      As someone (I believe Maximilian) said, Capcom’s current games (Marvel 3 and SFxT is what he was talking about) may have a few characters who stand out, but everyone is useful. With their older games (Marvel 2 specifically, but SF3 and others to an extent as well), 90% of the characters are ass.

      Not to say Marvel 2 can’t be fun with just those 12 characters… but honestly, I’m tired of seeing Doom/Strider, Storm/Sentinel, Psylocke assists, ROM combos and everything else that’s just been repeated continually because… why try anything else? There may be room to explore, but there’s very little reason to dig for gold when you already have the key to Fort Knox.

      I dunno, I guess it all comes down to taste. I mean, on character balance, Capcom just fucked up with Super Street Fighter IV AE by basically turning it into a Bruce Lee fanfic, and I still love SF3:TS even though I know full and well that the game is almost as unbalanced as MvC2.

    lol I love how PC they were trying to be in their comparisons but I can’t blame them since they’re making money off it. It was just nice seeing Clock doing work again.

    Man I would love some MVC2 side tournies or MMs @ Evo 2K11

    Face it after 10 years of MvC2 it has gotten stale. Can’t blame people for being tired of seeing Magneto, Sentinel and Storm plus assist characters.

    It’s kinda weird the way it works out. The better characters were more “complete” then the rest in MvC2. So there was less balance, but the cast that was good was fun to play. While MvC3 has more viable characters overall, but none are as fun to play as the creme of the crop in MvC2…….
