  • Gorehound

Tokido shut everyone’s whore mouth in MvC3!

    • dayday

      I seen that, :)
I have to see the video, I heard his Wolverine was straight raping.

    • ShinOwen

Lets get this right I love the USA. But you guys need this, you need your butts kicked cause your or most of you are just to dam cocky for your own good. This is just a sample of whats to come for EVO. Get your game up USA, Japan is not playing with you they come to kill. What can you say if Japan wins Marvel at EVO, they cheated, threw dirt in Justins eyes. You guys had 10 years, 10 frigging years so you have no excuses for letting them win. Get your game up USA, Japan is comeing for your heads.

      • CaptainFran

Yes they need to get their game up. But this is a completely different game, those 10 years cannot be counted.

      • ironboy89

        Good lord… 10 years of MVC2 ain’t 4 months of MVC3.

USA needs to up their game…but those aren’t the reasons.

        • janoDX

If this was a MvC2 tourney Tokido would be eliminated on pools… If this was MvC2 Daigo would NEVER, ever played it…

This is MvC3, where all started again for everyone…

          • cow8111

            Good story…

Oh wait, what was America’s message after the Evo hype vid came out with Daigo calling America out in mvc3? “Marvel is OUR game”. There was an enormous amount of American pride in the responses on SRK below that video with a few saying it was a start for everyone.

So now you guys really have no excuses. Just step your game up and get hyped for EVO. /respect

          • Jourdal

            But its “Our game” remember?

      • Laswagga

MVC3 is not MVC2. MVC3 is a game centered specifically around random events. The pace of an entire match, is set off of one random event. In MVC2, combos had some end to them (unless they were obviously infinites). And even then, there is usually a reset required for that combo to kill and major execution barriers separated the pros from the average joes. Getting touched by any stray L in this game leads to an easy combo, into an easy OTG/DHC Glitch for a death combo.

I’m sorry, but until japan can see american players in MVC2. They have no right to brag about winning.

        • CaptainFran

          This ^^ Nuff said.

    • gboblyn

      Wrong tournament.

  • dancingphlower

    So glad Filipino Champ lost.

    • defghui

he threw someone else’s stick after he lost. anyone else see that shit?

      • Robotronfiend

        He’s always so classy!

      • Freebyrd

WHAT?! Was that on the stream!?!? I love to hate that guy!

      • Zeromurasame

If that actually happened he needs his skull crushed.

  • HASJ

    Viscant and Nguyen FTW!
Need to see their replays and Tokido’s grand finals. C’mon Level|Up/sp00ky!

  • WINBACK

The stream was great. Loved watching Noel Brown get carried in teams.

  • lemonhonda

    Bionic Arm* not hsien chang

    • Bionic Pickles

      same guy.

      • lemonhonda

        Disagree.

        • De4dEyE

          Bionic arm = hsien

  • leakey

Good streams, good weekend. But America’s not gonna be so free at EVO. BELIEVE IT.

  • Bisse

Anyone know which chars the top 8 in SSF4AE were using?

    • TerraZero

There were 2 Yuns, 1 Fei, and 1 Yang in top 8. There were also 2 Vipers, 1 Akuma, and Clakey D holding it down with Ibuki.

It was a lot more varied than a lot of people expected. Not nearly the Yun Army that had been predicted.

  • EvilRyuX

Another great tournament for the weekend. Two really good majors on the same weekend. Ate up all of my weekend watching these, but they were both great in their own ways.

  • Ootori_Kyouya

I’m a huge fan of Viscant. I am very happy to see him win Marvel vs. Capcom 3…especially when he said DiosX was much better than him on WNF.

  • NguyenLm

    the 8-bit necklaces were hype.
    i want one.

  • DietDrKelp

If you guys wasnt catching CEO you HAVE to check out chris g vs jwon and the mvc3 finals with jwong vs tokido. You can see the pheonix and wolverine metagame in practically coming off of your screen during the finals. ALSO WATCH MIKE ROSS VS ART GODLIKE MATCH.

  • Jourdal

Daigo’s Yun is on another planet. Satoshi was godlike in BB but there was never any doubt.

  • StrtFghtrMstr

Daigo!!!!! Mago & Tokido rep.’n I love infiltration is competing state side again! Loved watching his Akuma in Evo last year.

  • Mr.BottledChi

Daigo got in dat ass. Evo gonna be hype!

  • defghui

i thought latif was pretty damn good. and clakey is surprisingly fast too.

  • Sinister-X

Shoutouts to Hsien “Master” Chang for Putting TEXAS Back in the map once again! Good shit to homeboy Latif for getting 4th as well!!

  • Majinhurricane

    latif > wolfkrone

    • kof4life

I don’t know about that…. I’d say Wolfkrone did better against Mago than Latif did. Heck, he choked it up at the end. He had a legitimate chance of knocking Mago out, but froze up when Mago just jumped at him with that forward. It’s a pretty damn close comparison between Wolfkrone and Latif, I’ll admit, but I still think Wolfkrone is slightly better.

  • tataki

wolverine was the one ocving justin but prepare for phoenix salt anyway

  • Goyahitaro

In all of the rounds played between tokido and wong in the finals tokido had a total of 4 wins due to dark phoenix activations and 3 from his wolverine.

That mixed with the fact wong played these teams specifically to fight against phoenix needs to be taken into account.

Tokido is an amazing player, but phoenix changes too much of the game by herself.

    • Eileithyia

but tokido is knew for being cheap. phoenix is the cheapest character in the game.
if you don’t according for that and just call tokido free on his youtube vids and in srk forum just few weeks ago. this is should be our problem.

      • Goyahitaro

i’m sorry I don’t fully understand your response?

Are you saying that i’m calling tokido free? I thought the last line of my post gave tokido enough credit for his effots.

My response was to weather or not phoenix could be credited for any of his performance, which she can.

        • Eileithyia

i’m not saying you call tokido free, but alot of US people call tokido free. go find his matches in youtube, you will know what i mean. I just saying tokido likes to use the cheapest characters in the game and US players have to according for it. Blame on the character is no help. tournaments are not going to ban the her.

          • cong

“US players have to according for it.”

            …what?

  • NervousTwitchyGuy

Great weekend for FG fans! Dual stream monstering FTW!

  • JAGTxelUM

Viscant only USA hope for MvC3 at EVO now, hang on Viscant!

  • ploftkaploft

I didn’t get to watch this stream as much as I wanted, but thanks to Valle, Ultra David, Level Up and others involved. It was fun to watch.

  • D-Proto
  • batmanuel

time to ban that phoenix before evo…ban wolverine as well

    • Jourdal

No one was saying that when justin was bodying people with Logan.

      • Sandfox

        they should’ve been TBQH

        • Gaijin87

If you can beat them, ban them. That’s the spirit. F it, let’s just ban Tokido and Daigo from EVO while we’re at it. In fact, let’s just make EVO a US only tournament and be done with it. Then we don’t have to come up with excuses or anything new.

  • sprflyspdrguy

You morons trying to troll America are just sad. You don’t even know what your saying. I’ll be taking bets at EVO. Be ready to free up those pockets

    • simon_

nope, the american sportsmanship is sad, but we all knew that already

  • Yogastretch

Wow, what a great tournament. Those 8-bit necklaces were classy. Anyone know who was selling them? I want to get a few.

  • tobdawg831

Funny how people are complaining about Tokido’s use of Phoenix in the wrong thread and when top 2 at ReveLAtions used Phoenix also

    • Aquashark

yeah, funny how people like Viscant (i like him too).. but are trying to find an excuse for Tokido’s victory because he used Phoenix :D

    • Gaijin87

Correct. The problem isn’t Phoenix, it’s the fact that Tokido used Phoenix on his team and won. Otherwise people wouldn’t care the least bit.

      • Goyahitaro

did either of you even hear the commentary at ceo? Yipes commented on his fellow teammate evil rashan that although thats his “boy” he can’t get hyped for his victories or cheer for him because rashan was winning heavily in part due to pheonix. Floe won power up by putting phoenix on his team against justin wong and everyone in chat and commenting on the match just lost all energy whatsoever

        • Gaijin87

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. If Wong had won grand finals, even using Phoenix, I think there would have been more hype about US keeping the MvC title than complaining about Wong resorting to Phoenix. But it’s all conjecture anyways…

  • ieswk

    Did Daigo play MvC3?

  • Kayame

    1st) Michaelangelo (Kabal)
    2nd) Online Tony (Kabal)
They are both good players but using block infinites to win makes them lose respect.
    -Daigo tier whoring as always
-Hope to see Elsa players win a tournament
How does not Combofiend get first place in Marvel? He’s so Gdlk

  • ISLEDGEI

I thought NRS was going to patch up Kabals cheap infinite?

    • DietDrKelp

They did but they played b4 patch because nobody was prepared for the patch.

      • frostycyke

No. revalations was played with patch. CEO was played without patch. The two Kabals in Grand finals were legit.

  • Crabcakes410

    TIER WHORE!!!!!!

(sorry im just trying to fit in with people on this site…. did I say the right thing?)

  • PropLeXed

Daigo vs Mago in the grand finals… wow I bet no none saw that coming /sarcasm.

    • mr. tibbs

It does suck that they’re that good, but, well, they’re that good. Fun to watch them, though!

  • KJunk

    “Good lord… 10 years of MVC2 ain’t 4 months of MVC3.”

    Haha, amazing quote.

  • Grimbear13

EVO is the one that counts so hopefully CEO was a wakeup call that people need to get new tech out there. Wolv is dangerous but I’m sure theres a solid counter out there for him. Anyways both streams were incredible the finals in both were the best I’ve seen in any tournament great show to everyone.

  • JDM98Ferio

    Congrats to Hsien!!! Repping Texas!

  • King Rizz

So I really wasn’t paying too much attention to ReveLAtions outside of the MK tourney, what happened to Sako in the AE tourney? Or did he not compete?

    • Gaijin87

He got knocked out before top 8. Clakey D sent him to losers (Ibuki mirror) and then Ricky Ortiz eliminated him 2-0.

    • kof4life

Sako got eliminated before top 8. I remember Clakey D put him in the losers bracket, and I think it was Ricky Ortiz that eliminated him.

  • magocyber

Lol @ people who are saying if this was MvC 2 Tokido wouldn’t have made top 16, well this isn’t MvC 2, and if I remember correctly , there was a video of daigo saying that he was preparing MvC 3 for EVO and everybody was like no way Daigo, this is our game, take SF4 title but no MvC 3,
while watching CEO stream James Chen said that he had ask Tokido if he was the best MvC 3 Player Japan had to offer, and he said no, wonder if that one person who is supposedly better than him turns out to be Daigo

@#62 any MvC 3 tournament that has Japanese players against American players counts, no excuses, Tokido was simply the best player yesterday, maybe Justin can come up with a new strategy to claim the title.

    • Unable to Connect

That’s nice of you to leave out the fact that near the end of the tourney, Tokido claimed he was the best MvC3 player in Japan.

  • Ultima

I should also point out that 10 years of MvC2 also wasn’t 4 months of MvC2. It’s not like the US players magically got to where they were from the first day MvC2 was released. There’s nothing unusual about JPN players adapting to a mostly new game (fuck this “MvC3 ain’t Marvel” horseshit, it’s not even as different from MvC2 as MvC2 was from MvC1, MSF and XSF) and competing while everyone is still learning.

    Fuck Pheonix though. Seriously.

Nevertheless, good shit Viscant! I can’t remember the last time he won a Marvel major… circa summer 2000 in MvC2 mnaybe? Back when Doom/Storm/Bison was a dangerous team of his?

  • lelezi

don’t blame the players, blame capcom dev team for putting in a ‘cheap character’. Also, the Japanese came over and dominated in every title. Take your losses and learn from them.

  • Clawww

    Shoutouts to sick payouts.

  • thejohnsonrock

this is the firs time i’ve ever watched 2 tourneys at once. mad fun but it was hard to decide which one to fullscreen :’) . i even got a sound streamer to get the commentary to my iPhone from the main computer while i was doing chores around the apartment. now i see why grown ass men get glued to their seats during superbowl or world series time. can’t wait until this is considered a real sport like i think it is.

  • Jandek

gs to Rom for reppin’ 3s skills, and who beat Ricky O!?

    • JUlienBo

Hsien Chang put him into losers; Mago eliminated him.

  • Raven

Congrats to Viscant. San Diego making some noise.

  • gboblyn

    5th) Infiltration (Viper)

Whaa? Also Latif is the most entertaining Viper player ever.

    • kof4life

Pretty sure that’s a typo…. Infiltration played Akuma as per usual.

  • Surfer87

anybody know if there are any recorded replays somewhere? For those who couldn’t attend and missed the live stream

I wanna watch this tokido wolvermine match everybody’s been talkin about

  • P. Gorath

    Japan didn’t beat Viscant.

  • RowJoe

Nerf this, ban that… bunch of whiners. How about we give the game more than a few months of play time before you guys get more stuff nerfed? Good players will find ways around the stuff that’s “broken”. Roll cancelling, AHVB x 5, Yun’s Genei-Jin… this isn’t something new. Sheesh.

  • cliffeside

meh. revLA was kinda wack (outside of MK) only hype match in AE was clakey D vs sako. and is it just me or does ultradavid make a shitload of excuses for why people lose? james chen+guest> ultrasonic.

    • JUlienBo

I agree. Can’t stand Ultra Davids commentary. Ski and David didn’t even know what they were talking about…I mean they were really talking a lot of bulls**t.
UltraDavid said that he didn’t really play AE yet, but that he thinks that Zangief is ‘bottom 3′!!! Really??? James Chen…you are the best! Period!

  • DucksSeason

Did Daigo played MVC3? how did he do???

    • Goyahitaro

daigo didn’t want to enter mvc3 just mago did

  • ecwolf

Would there be anywhere I could watch the entire archived stream? All the games with commentaries?

Preferably not YT, I really don’t like scouring for the vids and they always not in order.

    Thanks so much!

  • SVN4

In a way, it was really exciting because the the switching between the streams made you get really hype pumped all the weekend: for example, when there is a brief interval, or break, or pause for Ads, or just silly talk, you switch to the other stream, which had games actually being played.

In another way, there was times you had to make painful decisions. And there is even the fact that a sf team tournament lasts longer than one for marvel, so there is a loss also involved; you have to choose… I was mostly at Ceo, but i lost most of Daigo and Mago (and other top players) matches, and the finals for both Singles and Team tournaments of AE, and i regret it.

So i hope this never happens again.

USA scrubs: If, If, If, If, If, If, If, If, If, If, If, If = infinite loop.

TOKIDO rape all american player. TOKIDO rape JWRONG in MVC3 and SSFIV: DAIGOD EDITION.

The truth is here. JAPANESE Players >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> USA players. It´s natural.

  • Super Scrub

Stop crying over Phoenix and all this and that blah blah blah. XFC 3 is a bigger problem.

As far as Tokido goes, America is way too used to Phoenix players going batshit insane with teleport and spamming jab for the sake of spamming it. If you analyzed Tokido’s phoenix play and team composition, he was much more methodical. Whenever his Phoenix went dark he didn’t try to overpower you with a bunch of traps and teleports and all kinds of gimmicky crap, he actually thought of ways to get in and break JWong’s defense and he managed to do that. Nobody uses that low jab to that thrust-forward move or whatever that has a lot of priority combo which kept JWong in a blockstring forever. Another thing that JWong lacked was that he didn’t have good anti-Phoenix characters once his Wolverine was dead, which Tokido spotted and that’s why he used METER and level 1 X-Factor on Wolverine. You barely see that from American Phoenix players, you rarely see any of them use meter or level 1 XFC against ONE character because they’re so reliant on Phoenix alone.

But hey, it’s all about EVO, and Tokido certainly isn’t the best in Japan, even he thinks so. Apparently Nemo’s the best, so maybe he might drop by EVO and prove Tokido right. There’s also Daigo, we haven’t seen him play, but you American haters shouldn’t count JWong or the rest of America either. If anyone can step his game up and correct the mistakes he made in the last game it’s Justin. I’m not trying to ride this guy’s dick or anything but come on, he IS the king of Marvel.

  • Super Scrub

“but you American haters shouldn’t count JWong or the rest of America out* either.”

    Whoops.
