MvC3 – Solo, No X-Factor, 100% Combos from Japan

Japan has been doing that corner-combo science in Marvel vs Capcom 3! SMOAI posted this video to youtube, originally created by GINZI (さん and hosted on Nico. It features a variety of characters performing solo combos that kill Thor without X-factor. It is worth noting that most of them use 5 or more meters.

[tip from Darksim]

  • KinXBinX

    They’re coming!!!!

  • Vargas

    A 100% kill using 5 levels of super…. really isn’t something special.

    • tetsuo6988

But what was impressive was spiderman getting the 100% with one meter.

    • jubeiyagyuX

agreed, but not all of them do and some even build enough meter to almost cancel out what was used

    • LordJim

It is actually. Linking supers, even lv3 ones for that damage is not easy without ANY assists. And in MvC3, your last character with no X-factor is a scenario you need to work on.

  • Richboydaman

    spiderman top tier =-o?? lol

    • Robo-mitsu

Ssssshhh! No one’s meant to know!

  • Overdose719

I thought that Dorm combo impressive and the Shuma

  • MaikkyWin

Prepare to see 100 spideys now.

    • pratmaN

The spidey web throw loops has been known over 3 months now

  • Maverick8

A lot of under used characters here! I love combo videos no matter how impractical. Some of them were practical though. The Spider-Man thing actually seemed practical! Damn. We saw the Sentinel thing done partially a UFGT. The Akuma combo was practical enough. They made the Zero one too flashy with the unnecessary level 3 but it is practical. Also, that Iron Man combo took hella skill if you know how awkward he moves.

  • ProjectNeo2501

beautiful stuff, with enough practice anything could be practical :/

  • Kurushii

Beautiful combos. Loved the Zero ending one =3

  • Sonic BOBA BOOM

    holy moley… o.o

  • Chrisis

On top of requiring 5 meters a lot of these require a standing character to not block an overhead in order to start correctly and all are corner based. >.<

    They're pretty to watch though!

The Spiderman one seems practical enough.

  • Faith From Hell

Spider-Man probably is gonna look like Captain America. He can do 100% combos with Doom Missiles + Deadpool Katanarama.

    I liked Wesker’s the most.

Japan trying to novocain the game! I’m a lil worried about Daigo’s presence in Marvel 3 at Evo now.

    • ShinOwen

As well you should be, he has nothing to lose, J. wong does. Think about it if J. wong dosnt win marvel, what can he say but i got my ass handed to me.

      • Lunchbox5388

he will say he had been practicing mk to much. lol

  • Gammadynamite

Chris’ Grenade / Grenade Launcher loop was serious……

  • MaikkyWin

This was actually Daigo playing with one hand.

    • ieswk

      Lmao lol

    • insanedaemon

      Funny shit

  • LauZ

That Morrigan one was mega intense.

    • thejohnsonrock

i agree! she’s so underused but she’s got all those offensive tools. learned hellas about spiderman too

  • MrFTW

The only practical one was Magneto’s

    • Maverick8

Not true at all. The Magneto one WAS practical but not the only one. Also, the Mags one used 5 meters and really wasn’t optimal.

      • Unable to Connect

Actually the Magneto one used 6 meters. It had 2 gravity squeezes. He used gravity squeeze early enough that he was able to build more meter to do another one at the end.

    • BigOlePappy

C.Vipers was practical. MarlinPie does variations of it.
All it was were seismo SJ cancels into wall loops then BK into level 3.
Imo the hardest part or one of the harder parts is getting the 1 frame TK to link into the rest of the combo. I can never get that does consistently.

  • Artowis

If you actually drop off the final parts needed to kill a huge character like Thor, most of these combos would kill with only 1-2 meters.

    • ShinOwen

Artowis has a brain. Very good artowis very good thinking.

  • OMGitsJulian

    No Arthur? :(

  • Bastion

the spiderman and sentinel stuff were day 1 combos we have ll seen before. but the chris combo really stood out

    • Maverick8

You’ve seen Spider-Man 100% for 1 meter day 1? Good lord where did you see that?

      • SimpleKiss

If you were a spiderman player from day one and did research this combo has been around for a very long time. It’s the classic web throw loop, where you dash under them before you relaunch so you throw them back into the corner again. It’s pretty impractical though, and you won’t see it that often in a real match, if ever.

        • thejohnsonrock

i hear u on practical. they said that about the rom infinite too though, so i hope someone perfects this setup so we can see more spidermans in the top 8′s of a lot of tourneys

  • chickenbutt

    Like always, no Trish :(

    • ShinOwen

Really chickenbutt really. After what you have just seen you still cant get off your lazy chickenbutt and come up with a trish combo like these on your own? << SLAP Stop being a chickenbutt and be more pro active you lazy @!#$%

  • AmishOpiate

“It is worth noting that most of them use 5 or more meters.”

    Stopped paying attention there.

    • KennedyKills

Except thats to kill Thor, so you can kill a lot of the more used characters with 2, maybe 3. And that is actually quite impressive, if impractical.

    • clue2025

You build 2-3 meters during the combo anyways.

  • Windsagio

its hard to tell what he’s even doin’ in the last half of the zero one.

  • Blacksonic21

I’m pretty sure someone did that Sentinel combo at UFGT7 and the crowd was mad hype.

    • ShinOwen

Really blacksonic really. If someone did do this in ufgt7 dont you think we would have seen it first B4 this video << This is the first time anyone has seen this thats not in japan. SLAP moron.

      • thejohnsonrock

nah shinOwen. rex0r did it at UFGT7 in a clutch situation. and i know this is SRK but please stop callin’ people moron without knowing just WTF ur talking about OR LOOKING IT UP.

        • Hippie_Genocide

yeah, Rexor did that combo to Floe and he did the typical Jabba salty face that he does whenever he gets beat.

  • NervousTwitchyGuy

Very nice stuff. That’s what I love about this game, combo system has a lot of room for creativity. Spiderman’s loop was sick.

  • Deddjay

Not all of these are very practical, but they’re damn nice indeed. The Spidey one was gdlk.

    • ShinOwen

Really deddjay really. Are you on drugs dude. Japan is showing you what it can do, I bet your life they can make this practical. SLAP!! wake up fool.

  • Wolf

    Showin america is Free.

    • ShinOwen

I agree with wolf America use to be the land of I can do it, now it just let someone else do and ill copy it. So lazy. What some of you don’t understand is that japan is kill thor with one guy, now if thor has the most life, what happen to the rest of the cast. They will only need like one or two meters. Think about it magneto gain one whole meter alone and what if he x-fator that 2 meter right there. Come on USA get you head out of your butt’s and start useing your dam brains.

  • Sol Badguy

Chris had the best one. Gonna try out his, Shuma’s, Ryu’s, and Dorms.

  • Banzai Ryusan

    Very Nice combos.

  • Sencho

I think X-Factor is ruining the game anyway, I would love to see matches with combos like that!

  • KimSunIL

    reply.

  • RadRed

    I’m learning that Chris combo.

  • Sir_Flawless

Most of this stuff is completely impractial, but it dhows that people are trying to learn how much you can do with just one character. I think if everybody would just try to learn what one character can do all by themselves, even if its in the corner, more characters would be used… I think a good approach is to figure out what you can with just one character alone, then when you think you have a good amount of that under the belt, you can then begin to brainstorm when is the best time to use an assist to continue your combos, or make certain set ups more powerful. cant wait till I get a job so I can buy this game…

  • BigOlePappy

Nobody commented on the C.Viper one but its pretty sick. Not as hard as it looks either. Hitting that 1 frame TK cancel is probably the hardest or harder part.

  • kingsfall

I’m liking that picture of Thor on the front page.

  • randomjohn

Two gravity squeeze…haha that was priceless. He ate 6 lvls of hyper.

  • Stratoforce

AERIAL RAVE! Japan gets to have raves in the air while we only get combos. I feel cheated.

  • Cee Dizzy

    Its official…. AMERICA IS FRAAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!

  • Kyrie

That Tiger Knee Fatal Claw was awesome!

  • Javid

The Wesker combo was really interesting. From a purely practical point though, most of these combos are more flash than substance.

  • Aukmaud

best ones imo were spidey and magneto.

  • Spider-Dan

These are creative and interesting combos, but you shouldn’t read into tournament results based on them. Meikyousisui was putting out the best MVC2 combo videos, but what did that mean for that game?

  • CHomes

Fucking sentinal one was too beast, 3 HD’s into a plasma storm dat sentinal mah boi, dat sentinal.

  • cgr

Spiderman was the only one that really impressed me…

  • boogityboy

So at what point can an actual player just block/flip/roll out due to hitstun deterioration on these. Flashy combos are nice to look at but training dummy is not a real person, hence until I see the combos on a live opponent, they are just eyecandy.

    • SSblanka

do you know what a combo is?

  • winter_blitz

very great combos! but I am not impressed with the training mode combos. yet I do enjoy the combo gallery lol

  • quixotegut

3/4 of this video’s cast are upper-mid to highest tier characters. While awesome to look at, all I see is the strong getting stronger. Show me Hsien-ko 100%’ing and then I’ll kvetch.

The Spidey one seems pretty appliable though.

The Jp’s are going to bring a tough game to EVO.

  • thejohnsonrock

man while i think this game is great, i have to say they skimped on defensive options and i think they did it on purpose. if you look at mvc2, there is NO WAY hard knockdown should be granted unless it’s after a super, and even then there should be enough ceremony after a level 3 that the combo should end there, not resumed. it’s like being able to do two ultras in Streetfighter 4.

up-teching and left-right rolls after soft knockdowns are okay, but i would really like to see the return of the command tech roll. those changes would nullify a lot of tried and true combos that people bank on, but i think it’d keep in the true spirit of the MVC franchise and balance the game.

  • ghandis spatula

Wow, underused characters showing their potential. Maybe people will actually use them. I loved the Spidey kiop and the sent kill. Shuma, chris and morrigan were ballin too.

    Also dark phoenix combos lol.

  • 6ixx

I heart this video. Even though it uses a bunch of meter, it’s way more original than doing a bnb combo with xfactor. Good shit Japan. There’s hope for you yet. I hope Daigo is really training hard in this. I hope he doesn’t repeat his seasons beatings performance and doesn’t top.

  • juggernaut1981

Yes; having your opponent in the corner while you have 5 metes and landing that perfect over head is all but impossible and never happens in a real fight. But this simple approach to combos is something you can take away from this. X-factor is more precious in this game that meter. I never see anyone link normals after Phantom dance, Dante’s & Iron-man’s level 3. People always burn their X-factor when they land that first hit with Zero if they absolutely want to kill that character, or Akuma, or Dante, or Sentinal for that manner. Landing one hit should really mean the death of a character once this game is fleshed out but it shouldn’t always cost X-factor.

  • WyonEarth

    love the iron man combo.

  • Vidness

    Here’s some skrull love that’s missing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iW4KD62Sjc

  • Shinkada

Wesker combo was siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick! I had NO idea you could combo after Phantom Dance, I wonder how distance/height specific that is… Being able to combo after it could actually make that a, shock, decent super! Also lol that Dante is… Basically just regular no-tricks combo. He’s already insane.

    DORMAMMU HHRRNNGNHHH GODDAMN.

Anyway as for the ‘Is this useful?’ discussion… Fuck yeah it is. Currently, X-Factor is amazingly strong. It dominates, sometimes decides matches. Being able to one-hit kill anyone, even if it is with 4-5 meters, makes X-Factor less important. It means you can use it for more than just raw damage; you can use it for chip, you can use it for survival, or you could use it when you only have 1-2 meters to knock out a particularly strong character on point, cough Wolverine.

A combo into Lv1 XFactor into another combo gives you 3+ meters anyway, so essentially this allows you to have enough juice to just wipe out two full characters. It’s definitely not useless.

  • Blazze

big ups to japanese players.. for the simple fact they came into MVC3 with there own style of play and it’s looking really good..
