Welcome to the SRK Network News for Sunday, September 5th, 2010. Lets take a look at what went on this week...

Ryan Hunter at Option Select posted a list of five tips for begginers. You may think you know it all, or that you aren't a begginer anymore because you've been playing for "x" amount of time, but you may read something here that clicks and helps you take your game to the next level.

Glenn at Get Your Tournament has updated their Super Street Fighter 4 tier list. This list is unique
because it is based purely on match data, with no opinion involved.

Maj at Sonic Hurricane is starting a new website project with the goal of posting combo videos exclusively. He wants to be sure that great combo videos do not fall through the cracks of the public's awareness.

Street Fighter Ireland has a lot of info about upcoming tournaments in their area. Inferno is coming up soon, so if you live out there, check it out.

MasterChibi over at Melty Bread has some information on Melty Blood qualifying players for Tougeki 2010 (Super Battle Opera). He has links to video of some of the qualifying matches, as well.

Muttonhead at Being A Scrub put up some match videos of his Ryu vs a friend's Cody. It is always good to check out your own matches, to try to see your weaknesses and mistakes more clearly.

We posted Shadowloo's awesome "I Hate Blanka's Chips" video earlier this week, but its a great tool and its worth mentioning again.

Last night, special advisor to Marvel vs Capcom 3 Seth Killian answered a few questions from the PAX Unity Live Stream viewers. Unfortunately, he did confirm that Megaman X is not in MvC3.

He did go on to note, however, that in the most current build of the game, they have a character that is the craziest thing Capcom has ever put in a fighting game, and that balancing this unknown character has been a challenge. He even said that the new character was "making his mind melt".

Stay tuned to SRK for more MvC3 info. Tokyo Game Show is just two weeks away!

Pokey86 posted this amazing guide to Super Street Fighter 4's juggle mechanics on his Youtube. It goes over virtually every detail of why and when someone can be juggled in SSF4. Anyone seeking true understanding of SSF4's system should take this information in via this video, or in the thread here on SRK. ...

Take a glance at these video of the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2's multiplayer mode. Remind you of Smash Bros? While the designers of that mode admit that it is easy to make that comparison, they say that the starting point for the multiplayer mode's design was the 1994 Namco arcade game called "Outfoxies" (Which totally deserves a modern sequel or remake). They event cite Capcom vs SNK 2 as inspiration for their rolling mechanic (which way pre-dates CvS2, and even appears in Smash, but i digress).

So, Star Wars themed Outfoxies/Smash? That could be fun! Videos are embedded below. ...

Ono continues his question and answer habbits via twitter today, and leaves us this response and picture. The person writing in was asking for costume customization in Super Street Fighter 4, to which Ono said:

"We'll release a new costume for SSF IV soon. Plz wait."

Could this picture be a preview of Fei Long's new alternate outfit? In a later tweet, Ono continues to tease about Final Fight character Poison's possible SF4 appearance. A user asked Ono to make Poison "looking-good" (yes, looking-good) in SF4. Ono replied:

Community member Reno did a translation job on the latest Arcadia Magazine, which features a tier list with explanations by top players for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. You can check out all the information that he has translated so far after the break, and keep your eye on this Virtuafighter.com thread for future updates.

"Here's the first "official" tier list for Final Showdown, published by Arcadia this month. It also includes small notes about each tier.

    S Rank: Shun, Lau, Akira

Within the top ranks, you have Shun, who has gained a ton of good moves and adjustments, Lau, who has not changed that much (but takes very good advantage of the new system), and Akira, who has been powered up. The changes to the throw system have not detracted from their game at all."

Gaming Vault did a 15 minute sit-down with Super Street Fighter 4 champion Daigo Umehara during Super Vs Battle. They cover all kinds of topics, including which new characters "The Beast" himself would like to see added to Street Fighter 4. He also talks about how SF4 revitalized his passion for fighting games in general, and about his deal with Madcatz. He even touches on how he feels about gamepads vs arcade sticks. Read on!

"I suppose it’s best to begin with the reason you’re out here at this tournament – the Mad Catz deal. It’s a huge thing for you of course, but I’d like to know how you felt when you were approached for a sponsorship by this American company when the stick manufacturers in the past have been Hori and other Japanese companies?

The sticks weren’t much of a shock or surprise to me, as I had been using American style sticks at American tournaments. I never used to bring a stick with me – I’d go to foreign countries for tournaments, and borrowing off others at foreign tournaments meant that by the time I signed with Mad Catz it wasn’t a big change from what I was already used to! They’re great quality sticks, so I am at ease using them.

Mad Catz have done a few different versions of the high-end sticks – the Tournament Edition, The Round 2, the S. Do you have any particular preference between the different models? Do you find one shape better to use?

Stick-wise, I already know this kind of shape [indicates the regular Tournament Edition stick shape]. There are upgraded versions, but this is the one I’m used to and the one I’m most comfortable with."

Once in a while, a movie comes along that makes you laugh. Makes you smile. Makes you feel warm inside. King of Fighters is not that movie. Valaris' review of the movie, however, is the feel-good hit of the year. This tour de force recap of the entire film, scene by scene, needs to be read by every King of Fighters fan. Be warned that is it full of vulgarity, in case your boss is walking by. Here is a sample to get you started:

"[Mai] leaves her appartment and her boyfriend meets up with her. She says something about moving on to the next round and you learn that this goofy motherf----r is actually Iori Yagami … wait, Mai is dating Iori? What happened to Andy Bogard? Urgh whatever. They leave for some party where Iori don’t need no stinkin’ invitation." ...
